Bringing Mrs. Dperry to the doubleheader on Saturday. Besides Tom's Diner, was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for good restaurants in the Columbia area that serve all afternoon (we're looking to have a relatively late and large lunch, so as to avoid the need for more than snacks at the game.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want something more than just coffee shop food, I'd go to Flattop, 1241 Amsterdam Avenue, at Amsterdam and 121st street.

If you change your mind and opt for dinner, I'd recommend 107 West, between 107th and 108th on Bway. It's 5 blocks south of Tom's, but well worth it.

If you have any interest in Italian, V&T on the west side of Amsterdam Ave. between 110 and 111 is great. Still owned by the same family (different generations, of course).

DP -

In the years when the game is on a Saturday, the Penn Club of Metro NJ tries to host a pre-game gathering in a nearby restaurant. Looking at their site, they have chosen Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor at 1135 Amsterdam Ave.

This was the location of the recent Columbia Fireside Chat with the men's and women's coaches a few weeks ago.

Their event is scheduled to take placed at 6:30 pm, during the women's game.

Looking at the bar/restaurant's website, they open at 12:00 pm and have a Happy Hour that goes until 7:00 pm.

I'll send this link for you and Mrs. DP to consider...
