Plus at 3 pm is the women’s alumnae game

If you are not making the trip to Yale … consider coming out to the Palestra to watch Penn (14-3. 4-0) take on a Yale (14-6, 4-1) team that beat Princeton (10-9, 2-2) 96-86 in overtime. It was Yale’s first win at Jadwin in 10 years and only the third in the last 23 games!

How will Penn’s defense which gives up 51 points per game stop Eli Junior guard Roxy Barahman who is averaging 19.9 a game and First year center Camilla Emsbo who is averaging 11.9 per game.

How tired will Yale be after a tough emotional OT game – how fresh will Penn be after the five starters basically played half the game against Brown before the subs took over for go late in the 3rd.

Penn wins: they have a two-game lead over all the schools with nine to go

Yale wins: not as good a Penn win, Yale would have a half game lead over Penn, a road sweep of the Ps for the first time since 1996, and with a win last week over Harvard, wins against all the favorites to make the women’s tournament.

With Harvard’s loss at Columbia, one of the bottom four teams could find their way in

This should be an exciting well played game by two well coached and talented teams.

Is it just me or do end game issues seem to plague these Penn WBB teams?

Well, they shoot free throws even worse than the men do, which made the ends of this game and Princeton more interesting than they should have been. On the other hand, they haven't had any of the inbounding/pressing meltdowns that the last few teams did. So far, the only game where they really collapsed in the fourth quarter has been Villanova, and that had more to do with the 'Cats just getting hot from three-land.

I'll bet MM has had them running plenty of drills on that in practice. He must still have nightmares about that NCAA game.

He'll have those for life, sadly. Or at least until they can get a tourney win.
