Still no news on if or when he might be back. All Amaker said is that remains hopeful that we'll see him this year. Have to think that next week's games would be close to the absolute drop dead point for him.

I think if Towns plays even one game he will lose a year of eligibility, I do not expect him to play this year.

That wouldn't matter in terms of his Harvard eligibility, as I understand it---he would have to play a post-grad year elsewhere. Am I correct?

Suspect that Towns will not return this year. That would give him what would be a full senior year at Harvard, get his Harvard degree, and likely become the most highly sought-after graduate transfer in 2020-21 season.

I'll still take the other side here.

When it comes to Harvard, you pretty much always do.

Given that post, I figure it would be worthwhile checking Jon Rothstein's twitter since he usually gets info from Tommy Amaker.

So far, nothing on Harvard at Rothstein's site, but he will be at Levien tonight to check out Miye Oni and Yale take on Columbia.

One question I had about medical redshirts. To be eligible, as I understand it, you can't have played in more than 30 percent of your team's games, or have gotten hurt in the second half of the year.

If Towns came back for the Yale game, I think that would keep him under 30 percent for the year even if we won the Ivy League Tournament and won a game in March Madness. Is that right? I'm assuming that he might want to go play somewhere else as a grad transfer — stupid Ivy rules — two years from now, so this would let him do that while still coming back for the end of this year.

As an aside, it makes no sense to force kids who want to play for you to go play for somebody else if they get hurt during the school year and basically miss a full season. Why make Makai Mason go play for Baylor, or Seth Towns play for someone else two years from now? How is that good for the student-athletes, the programs, or the fans? Changing that and the Ivy's rules on early-season tournaments are probably two of the more obvious things the conference should do.

I am pretty sure if a student athlete plays in a competition in the second half of the their season it uses a year of eligibility regardless of the 30% rule. If that is confirmed, then Towns would use this year if he plays for Harvard at any point between now and the end of the season.

Can we just put that phrase in parentheses? It's a legal fiction created by the NCAA to justify its slave labor from which it handsomely profits. Always bugs me when I see it used.

Aiken’s return has worked out well. POW for Penn/Princeton weekend. Kirkwood ROW for 4th time. Could Harvard have 2 different players win POY in consecutive years?

If Kirkwood wins ROY that would mean a Harvard frosh in 2 of last 3 years.

Kirkwood has pulled much closer and may even lead Washington based on the last couple weekends. Bryce will have to find his way down the stretch to take back control

Both are very impactful freshmen, each of whom are filling a void created by injury. Team’s respective fortunes down the stretch may be the deciding factor if they continue to play similar respective roles.

Anyone know if Ivy Tournament play is considered?

Looking at last year's Ivy League's announcement, the awards are given out prior to the Ivy Tournament.

Feels like this weekend has to be the last chance for him this year, otherwise he'd be going into the ILT with just two games under his belt.

On the plus side, he *did* ramp up his activity level last week. Warmed up before the Brown game, and then did that plus layup lines before the Yale game. I was at the Yale game, and thought he might have been moving a little gingerly, but, at the same time, he was throwing down some dunks.

I'm not sure what, if anything, to read into Bassey tweeting last week that it was "a scary sight" to see Towns warming up. Maybe just a team leader talking up a guy who's had a tough year. But the irrationally optimistic part of me is hoping it means more...
