Oh my god. Brown with another disastrous turnover after Morgan misses two FTs.

Not hearing of any injury report on Wang. Did Donahue address it postgame?

I actually thought we played well on D after the Dartmouth run that straddled halftime. Once we clamped down on Sistare (finally) it was basically Knight or nothing for them.
While I don’t want to underestimate Aiken, and Harvard is much more talented overall, statistically Dartmouth is clearly a better offensive team than Harvard. Harvard is light years better defensively.

AJ was incredible. We won and live to fight another day. The end.
PS this Wang thing really is bizarre. I know offense wasn’t necessarily the issue in the first half but no minutes strikes as something more.

Someone speculated that Donahue did not play Wang b/c he has looked very flat in the Saturdays of the back-to-back games and wanted him fresh for tomorrow. Just a theory - no facts to corroborate.

We were bailed out. If I am a Dartmouth fan, I am incensed at the offensive foul call that decided the game. It should have been a 3 point play.
We just aren't good enough this year---unless we get out on the break, we are just not good enough in the half court. The turnovers, poor defense on penetration and foul shooting deficiencies just leave us short despite having a very efficient offense (other than the turnovers).
It would be shocking if we win tomorrow.
And to me, it seemed that Wang wasn't running at all in warmups---just walking and shooting. I have to think he re-aggravated the injury, which never really healed.

Well, if you were going to play him one or the other, seems like he’s more of a physical match with Baker and Djuricic.
Hard to know who started the 4 guard approach and who was mirroring tonight. Dartmouth plays small to begin with, and they didn’t have Jackson, but they went even smaller tonight. As we sometimes see, AJ can have huge scoring games as the lone big. Not sure if it actually maximizes the team results, but it is great for AJ’s scoring totals.
Hope to see Wang a lot tomorrow.

I think we match up better with Harvard, strange as that may seem. We will need to play well to win, but I think we are more likely to win than lose tomorrow.

Curran and Tordy speculated that it was a matchup issue, given that Dartmouth plays small. They didn't spend a lot of time on the topic, though.
I would have favored playing Wang and forcing Dartmouth to adjust.

P38...
Not good enough??? We were good enough to go 4-0 against Big 5 teams, which included being good enough to beat Nova. We were good enough to beat Miami and beat New Mexico in New Mexico.
Typically (but not always) the better team wins these close games. We were/are the better team, & we won without Michael. We won with poor foul shooting. We won without playing our "A" Game. I have confidence in Steve and the team bringing their "A" Game tomorrow. But hey... I've been wrong in the past, and I am someone who can admit when I'm wrong...
I predict Penn wins tomorrow and covers the spread...

I floated that same theory at halftime, but I assumed if that were the case, Wang would get some second half playing time. Zero minutes suggests there's something else going on. If he's healthy, we will really need him tomorrow night. AJ must be exhausted after the effort he put in tonight. You've got to wonder how much he has left.

Didn’t get to watch much but seems like that was best for my blood pressure. Glad we gutted it out but seems like we didn’t play our best game by a long shot. Will need to play better tomorrow to win. Critical game, but then they all are at this point.
Looks like Donahue confirmed Wang’s DNP was a coaching decision per the DP:
Notably lacking for the Quakers was freshman forward Michael Wang, who failed to see the court at all on Friday night. Donahue insisted that this was purely for matchup purposes.
“I just felt in particular on the defensive end given Dartmouth’s spacing and three-point shooting, I had no one that he could match up with, and on the offensive end, he just wasn’t a big enough advantage,†Donahue said.
Personally considering how far down we got it seems like a pretty bold move to keep him out entirely. Hope it pays off with a very fresh Mike Wang tomorrow!

He sat in the number two spot on the bench all game so I have to think Steve told him prior. Steve’s moves like this have paid off in the past so let’s see tonight. I think we come out with a great game. Harvard beating Princeton last night helps too.
As for the foul at the end, I wonder if the official was influenced by Tony hitting the floor seconds earlier but to no call. The Dartmouth player did extend his arm but I agree that’s a no call at worst. It’s nice to catch a break for once.
