Bad game by Tape. Inexplicable why he didn’t score at will. Mike Martin worked the refs and got all of the key calls. Officials were awful. Another failure to close out a winnable game.

Game #8--that is, the 8th game we have lost this season by 3 pts or less. A puzzling phenomenon regardless of whether its origins are psychological or physical.

I think they cracked down on Tape after he scored a few easy buckets. Perhaps the most remarkable development is that Barba hit 4 3s. Our defense is much improved, and Ellis showed signs of improvement. But once again, at the end of the game, we were still one shot shy.

Relax,Columbia Fans, Engles is really addressing the issue now and reportedly said after the loss tonight that "...we don't need to change much, just sharpen things up."

"We really have to find a way (to win these close games)," head coach Jim Engles said after the game. "We just need to find a way to minimize the damage (on some of our mistakes) and try and prevent them from getting magnified. We got better shots tonight than we did yesterday (against Yale), but if we made better passes we would have had more quality 3-point attempts and some of those go in. We don't need to change much, just sharpen some things up. Obviously, I'm not happy with the results, but I'm encouraged by a lot of what I'm seeing out there.

Only at Columbia would the visiting team take 20 more FTs than the home team. One ref in particular seemed to have it in for us. The officiating was disgraceful. And Martin worked the refs again and again.

I hope you are kidding. The refs were but both ways. Anderson cleanly stripped Stefanni and had a breakaway, but called back, for one. Saturday Ivy refs are poor.

Martin is a good coach. But he was all over the refs last night. I was at the game and trust me, Martin was all over the refs all night. And it worked for the most part. That’s why Brown got 20 more FTs than Columbia. And yes, the refs were inept.
