I think they are going to need 9 Ivy wins to make the tournament.

If Tigers go 8-6, they have tie breaker against Quakerites -- I believe and against Cornell but probably only if they beat Cornell Friday night. Perhaps, I misunderstand IvyMadness tie breaker rules.

I’d be happy if Princeton gets to 8-6 at this point. If Tigers get to 8 wins, the only way they don’t make it to the four is if Penn goes 6-0 the rest of the way to get to 9-5 or Brown goes 5-1 (including a win over Princeton) to get to 8-6 or Brown loses to Princeton but goes 5-0 in other games and wins the tie-break against the Tigers.

The last time the fifth place Ivy men's team won 8 games was 87-88 when Yale and Penn tied for 4th and 5th at 8-6. It's not a guarantee a team will get into the IL tournament with 8 wins but it's very likely they will.

I have 8 wins ending up 5th just 3% of the time. Less than half as likely as the odds that 6 wins end up being good enough for 4th (7%).

Seven with the right tie breakers, which Princeton is in tremendous position to have with a win on Friday, is probably enough, especially if the top stays formful.
