Awfully quiet here before such an important game. Win this one and the Tigers have a real shot at the title. Go Tigers!

Win and we're in the IL tournament, right?
edit: actually we already clinched because we have the tie-breaker over Cornell, I believe.

22-23 at the half. Great defense and the offense does not look bad but open 3PT looks and layups are just not falling. Harvard also not doing much when they have the ball hence the anemic point total. Stephens and Aririguzoh both with two fouls. No sign of Much and Friberg now in the rotation, so 4 frosh are getting minutes tonight.
Tigers will need Llewelyn and Schweiger to help out Stephens in the second half and to hit a few more 3PT shots (3-8 in 1H).

Another rock fight, nice and close, which is sort of good news for this group. The bad news is a) lots of foul trouble (and some call asymmetry), b) getting clobbered on the glass, and c) not forcing enough turnovers from the butterfingered Crimson.
Stephens mostly keeping Aiken out of our misery, before he got that last foul before the half and had to sit. Schwieger's shooting is off, Llewelyn's poor (that one driving layup and-one was pure luck) but no worse than usual, Stephens knocked in a few but is hardly on fire, and there isn't much offense elsewhere with Arirguzoh sitting so long.
Kirkwood abused Johns a couple of times on drives, but on the whole the on-ball one-on-one D has been good. If it weren't for giving up all those ORs the Tigers would probably be ahead.

Aririguzoh catching fire, gets Lewis on the bench with four fouls and then scores a few times down. But giving up too many ORs again bites the Tigers as Catchings is able to hit a dagger three to push the Harvard lead to 8 with just over 3:00 left, no more times out.

Not going to win losing the turnover and rebounding and three-point accuracy battles, and they didn't. I really wanted to see Morales in there when they were desperate for steals at the end.
Need a miracle to win the conference title at this point, but it would still be very satisfying to beat Yale and Brown next weekend.

After clinching the tourney berth last night, we lacked focus and urgency tonight. Travel, travel, travel. Dribble off own foot. Dribble off own foot. Charge. Another travel. Meanwhile, it was Harvard's Senior Night with Kyrie in attendance -- they just played a lot harder than we did.
Even so, it was a close game. I have zero doubt they can beat Harvard in New Haven in two weeks. Just stay healthy, don't show all your cards and be ready for Ivy Madness. Tonight was just a glorified scrimmage and hopefully they can use it for game-planning.

As things now stand, they would play Yale in the semis, and it's hard to see how that could change unless they lose out and Brown wins out, right?

Result was not particularly surprising considering OT last night and the anticipated difficulty in scoring which came to fruition.
I believe that it is going to be very challenging to beat Harvard and/or Yale in IvyMadness. Would feel better if Devin was in the mix for sure.
In any event, it has been a wonderful season with considerable adversity but other teams had it as well.

This game left me oddly optimistic, as Princeton played a pretty awful offensive game, struggled with foul trouble, and uncharacteristically leaked like a sieve on the boards but still competed close up until the end (when Harvard got a couple of treys from an unlikely source). Despite losing to them twice, I wouldn't be that upset about getting another crack at them.
But we won't have to wait for the folly to get another shot at Yale. It will be interesting to see the relative motivation level of the two teams.

Credit Harvard's perimeter D: we had precious few open looks at 3-point shots.
Our D was also very good. I watched Schwieger in particular and he showed good lateral quickness.
Aiken was the difference. His late drive and dish for an open 3 was a killer. I hope Llewellyn adds that to his skill set.

Harvard plays wonderful team defense and the first half was a battle of two teams that play the best team defense in the IL. You always have a chance to win when a team plays excellent defense and rebounds so it is true that anything can happen if there is a third match up at a neutral court. Whether there should be a 3rd match up is a very different issue.
With Devin out of the mix, Stephens is attempting to take even more on his shoulders and he must be pretty darn exhausted after these back to backs. Looking forward to see him off on Senior Night. His limitation is his ability to shoot from the outside particularly this year but he is a warrior and his contribution on the championship team pushed the Tigers over the edge.

JadwinGeorge commented that Much was injured in the first half against Dartmouth. He only played 2 minutes last night. Anyone know what the injury is and if that was the reason for the low number of minutes last night?

Much has been having issues with his back/hip. In the Dartmouth game, he was standing up rather than sitting on the bench, and he's been doing lots of stretching on the sidelines.

Just watched the game and like SRP am feeling oddly optimistic. Tigers’ team defense was really solid and but for a few really bad minutes at the start of the second half and some crazy end-of-game stuff, this game was even. It was great to see RA get his offense going near the end of the game in a way we haven’t seen for a while. Two very good defenses from teams that have showed they can win ugly. If the Tigers can make some shots next weekend and one of the Cs steps up at home against Harvard, they still have a shot at the title.
PS Did anyone else notice that Aiken looked away from the Princeton players on the after-game handshake line? What a jerk move.

Yes, that did not look good. I think he was watching Kyrie Irving, who was on the other side of the court.
