No Cannady, no Schweiger, no chance. Yale is the class of the league, but I'd rather lose today and win next time than the other way around.
I want our guys to bask in this ugly, embarrassing loss and come out angry next week. Similarly, I'm fine with Yale taking us lightly after today's blowout.

During the weekend Princeton's passing was poor and they got almost no easy shots. Way too many guarded 3's late in the shot clock. Unless Schwieger plays and settles the team down it will be a short trip to Yale next weekend.

Llewelyn has stopped making all those bad plays, but he's gotten awfully passive. Even with Schwieger back they'll likely need more offensive orchestration and more scoring from him to get wins in the folly. Once again, Morales was one of the few bright spots despite the double-edged nature of his game. Aririguzoh is a good passer out of the high post (a little shaky out of the low post) and they could run more stuff with cutters and handoffs off of him. Something has to be done to get more movement and spacing.
Besides not getting good shots, the Tigers' shooting was just poor tonight. Even at the FT line, there were a lot of clanks. At this point, I would like to see Desrosiers get more three-point attempts because he actually is one of the better bombers on the team but he seems to have become gun-shy.

Bummed to draw Yale again in the tournament. Harvard would've also beaten the Tigers but it would've been a more enjoyable weird/ugly game. Hard to see a Yale rematch ending in anything but the same sort of blowout, especially on the road.

I wouldn't draw too much information from what amounted to an exhibition game for Princeton, playing without Schwieger. Yale was my pick for champion preseason and during non-conference, so I still would favor their odds, but the tournament game is unlikely to unfold along similar lines to this one. One thing that will probably stay the same is that Copeland will score a lot--that's been happening for four years now, and the guy still gets overshadowed in discussions of the Eli.

I picked Yale pre-season also - unless both Towns and Aiken returned for Harvard.
Interesting results though. If I had known that most teams would suffer injuries to key players, I would have expected Yale to run away with the season title.
To wit:
Penn: Betley/Wang/Washington
Princeton: Cannaday
Harvard: Towns/Bassey and Aiken missing OOC + a loss to Dartmouth (and there are others)
Columbia: Smith
Brown: Anderson/Howard
Yale meanwhile has remained (to the best of my knowledge) healthy and thus could have won this thing with a record better than 10-4.

Before the season, I thought Princeton would be a bottom half of the league team, and would lose the first two games to Penn.
I did not expect Aririguzoh to emerge as an excellent (short of dominant) post player.
So our early success was a surprise, and I got my hopes up, and then, (drum role), Cannady.
Then Schwieger appears ("the complete unknown from out of nowhere".)
My hopes are up again, and then the concussion.
So I'm happy we are in the tourney, and I don't expect much. I hope Aririguzoh continues to improve (why shouldn't he?), and I hope MH learns how to use him better.
And next year, maybe we can learn the "catch to shoot" philosophy of Villanova

This really was "The Year of Missing Stars." I wonder what the league would have looked like with everyone, not just Yale, full strength.
With Cannady out, our chances of winning an NCAA tourney game are asymptotically close to zero. So I can live with the Bulldogs representing the league. That said, funny things can happen over a single weekend and I put no stock in the yesterday's glorified scrimmage.
Let's slow it down, get it to RA and hope Schweiger plays like he has of late.

For next year, Mitch does need to get the ball down to Richmond far more than what he did this year. Although Bruner did a good job of denying Richmond the ball, once he got it, good things happened from there.
For next year, I believe that Wright will play a significant role as he can get off a shot like Arirguzoh, Schwiegger and Llewellyn -- a must in the Ivy League of 2019-20.
Sitting at court side, Yale was the third most impressive team that the Tigers played this year for one given night after Duke and St. John's. Copeland is a weapon as he can get off his shot no matter how well he is defended. Jones had them in sync getting ready for IvyMadness and he kept them after the game was long decided.

Copeland moves are affectionally called "ankle breakers". Aiken and Copeland have the best one on one moves at the end of a game. Copeland follows in the foot steps of another Yale ankle breaker, Mason.
Cannady never developed that type of move although he got much better going to the basket in his senior year. Llewellyn has the potential to be an ankle breaker next year but his shot obviously needs to improve.
These type of players are pretty rare commondities in the IL to date.
