Has anyone heard if the 2019 football schedule has been completed yet. The last I heard, the Bison only have 10 games scheduled, 6 PL games, plus away versus Temple and Towson, and home versus 'Nova and Princeton. Will there be an 11th game? We need all the help we can get with a new coach and coming off a 1-10 season.
GO BISON - BEAT 'GATE.

Wow-Temple and Nova? Not sure these will help with recruiting and definitely not with record. Hopefully new coach will realign to other local games such as Delaware that will appeal to alums and show well for recruits.

not sure Bucknell has released this, but here are home and away games , on a site with our logo. There are three weeks with and open date between games, most likely one bye week and a game and a game to be added during the other.
April 11 Spring Game
Aug 31 at Temple
Sep 14 Villanova
Sept 28 Princeton
Oct 5 Holy Cross
Oct 12 at Colgate
Oct19 at Towson State
Oct 25 at Lafayette
Nov 9 Lehigh
Nov16 Georgetown
Nov23 at Fordham
Looks like this new staff will have their hands full

These are exactly who I heard we would be playing. This schedule will be tough for a team coming off a 1-10 season, and the blocks of 3 straight home and then 3 straight away games won't help. Hopefully we will add another game to fill out the 11 game schedule. If it is a home game, I wouldn't care which open date would be used. But if it is away, let's hope it isn't scheduled on Nov. 2nd - that would make a brutal 4 straight away games during the heart of the season - not what this team and a new coach needs to deal with. It could be a long season.

Too bad Ed Foley isn't still the Temple head coach. Maybe he'd have taken it easy on his alma mater.

In the 60's we played Temple regularly....can't imagine anything that could be worse than 1966...would you believe 82-28?

Ed is a survivor. He has been at Temple since 2008 and worked under 5 different head coaches:

I remember going to a basketball at Temple around 1970, and an entire section of the Temple crowd began cheering and jeering "82 to 28". Not a pleasant time for Bison fans. I would hope for better for the season opener this fall. You never know, it might be close (or not).

The ironic thing is that prior to that game, Bucknell had dominated temple in football. Also used to dominate Delaware until the late 1960’s.

Bucknell actually had won 12 in a row over Temple before that forgettable blow-out. The Bison still lead all time 20-16-8 in series that was played continuously from 1927-1970. My dad was a Temple dental graduate and explained how the Owls had de-emphasized football in the very early 50's and began scheduling Gettysburg, Delaware, and Muhlenburg. Previous to that they always played the likes of Syracuse, Penn State, West Virginia, and Pitt......and Bucknell.

Great schedule so far. In a year when much of the FCS will be playing 12 games, I expect that there will be at least one more FCS game.

After having checked around the rest of the PL team schedules for 2019, it seems we are the only one who hasn't already got 11 or 12 games - why? Is it because of the turnover since last season with a new AD and head coach? With the majority scheduling 12 games, I hate to think we can't get at least 11 games - it is getting late to try and schedule another game. And the word around campus, I am told, is strangely quiet.

Since most games are scheduled 18+ months in advance, I wouldn't think the reason for the lack of games is staff turnover. It is possible that one or more teams originally on the schedule pulled out for some reason, but I have no info.

As you likely know, a Bucknell-PSU game was close to being put on a future schedule maybe five years ago. But then the Big Ten came out with their scheduling rule saying no future games with FCS teams. That also killed a Rutgers game that was likely going to be scheduled. Now that the Big Ten has changed that rule again to allow games with FCS teams, it could happen someday. Right now I think I'd settle for Rutgers.

Taa-daa
The 11-game schedule is announced. The only mystery revealed here was the 9/7 game at Sacred Heart. This OOC schedule (SH, Temple,Towson,Villanova and Princeton) is great, but a tough road for a new coach staff and system. We may have an element of surprise.

It’s a challenging schedule. I wish the order of the PL games were different, as the likely top two teams are the first two league games.
2019 Schedule
Aug. 31: at Temple
Sept. 7: at Sacred Heart
Sept. 14: Villanova
Sept. 28: Princeton (Family Weekend)
Oct. 5: Holy Cross* (Homecoming)
Oct. 12: at Colgate*
Oct. 19: at Towson
Oct. 26: at Lafayette*
Nov. 9: Lehigh*
Nov. 16: Georgetown*
Nov. 23: at Fordham*

Yes, that would work. Temple obviously is strong, and most know that Villanova and Towson are solid CAA teams. But some might not realize the strength of Princeton. For those who don't follow Ivy football, Princton last year went 10-0, scoring 72 TD's in those ten games. A few scores against recent Bison opponents:
Princeton 66, Lehigh 7
Princeton 51, Monmouth 9
Princeton 42, Penn 14
Princeton 66, Cornell 0
They also beat Brown and Columbia by over 35 points. And put up 59 points vs Yale, although Yale was able to move the ball as well.

Extremely brutal. The bad part is that the easiest opponents (that is a relative term) are at the end of the season. With tough games to start things off, we could be so banged up by the end of the season that those "relatively easier" games could become very tough. 1-10 last year isn't looking so bad now. This is a really nice "Welcome to Bucknell football" for the new coaching staff - they will have their work cut out for them.
