Wonder if they'll try to schedule a game with Georgia, Ga Tech, or Mercer as a homecoming game for Avi. There was also the rumored game at Nebraska last year that never materialized.

How about the non-rumored game at MSG against St John’s where we wouldn’t accept a 3k ticket guarantee?

Atlanta Bison knows there are a lot of good games to be had near the greater Atlanta area. Kennesaw and Georgia State also good options for an early road win.

It seems that the Power 5 Conference teams cannot wait to play Bucknell when we are expected to have a younger, somewhat inexperienced team. I hope that Moore and Toomer really step up and that the youngins play above expectations. I'd love to the the Nittany Lions lose and refuse to schedule the Bison again.

New season, new team, new dream . . .

Bucknell reloads. Next year will be another 20 win season in a an ever improving Patriot League. I think Avi is a huge talent and when he is finally “the guy” he’ll blow up. Moore I’m more suspect about.

We talked about this on the other thread but I think the Bison are a better scoring team next year. John Meeks can fill it up and so can Sotos. And Funk!

per Siena board we will be starting a new series with them, at Siena this year.

with both Bucknell and Yale looking like nit tip off "visitors" we may see them on the schedule.

Is it fair to say that year in and year out, our program is more competitive than Penn State’s?

Husky, I think that it probably depends upon the year, but overall, yes, I agree with you. I think that Bucknell has built a better program than Penn State. IMO, this started during the Pat Flannery years and has continued since then. Scholarships, good recruiting, and consistent, quality coaching have made a big difference.

It depends on how you define competitive, but I would say overall, no. Last year our final RPI was 151 and PSU was 50. There are some years when we have clearly been better, but not consistently.

I'd say that "competitive" is relative. PSU is not as competitive among its selected peers. Bucknell is competitive against its selected peers. Sure, the peer group is different, but our level of success year to year is higher.

Good analysis all. I think one way to analyze the question would be in any one year, where we would finish in the Big 10 and where would PSU finish in the PL? I think in most years similarly. We’ve never had a Newbill however.

This was before the Ohio State game this season.

The Bison are 2-23 against teams who were Big Ten members at the time of the game (1-14 vs. Penn State, 1-0 vs. Purdue, 0-2 vs. Michigan State, 0-1 vs. Michigan, 0-1 vs. Ohio State, 0-1 vs. Iowa, 0-1 vs. Northwestern, 0-1 vs. Wisconsin, 0-1 vs. Minnesota, 0-1 vs. Maryland), with the victories coming back-to-back seasons at Purdue (70-65 in 2012-13) and Penn State (90-80 in 2013-14).

How does DJ Newbill factor into the conversation?
