Back when I worked in CPG brand management, I leveraged offers from other companies into raises and promotions from my employer on numerous occasions. That sort of thing goes on in every line of work.

James Jones was interviewed on the UConn Report earlier this week.

https://soundcloud.com/user-995951947/uconn- report...

- In the summer, he felt the league might not play and told players to take a leave of absence if they wanted to finish their careers at Yale (there was no mention of Paul Atkinson's tweet about a lack of communication from the Athletic Department).

- 10 of the 14 returning players ended up taking a year off. Wyatt Yess will be attending grad school at Yale and will return next year. He feels if the league had made the grad school exception in September, Paul Atkinson would have stayed.

- He has 3 incoming recruits next year. He mentioned John Poulakidas and Jack Molloy by name, but said he wasn't able to mention the third (Bez Mbeng) because of his late application. The team will have 20 players next year, including one walk-on.

- Jones expects the league to return in the fall. He does not think the year off has caused any problems recruiting. He missed the year away, but would not have wanted to have coached if they had to take pauses, play immediately after a pause or lost games because of player absences.

- He did get a couple of calls about open jobs, but nothing ended up being better than what he has at Yale. He's happy at Yale, but said he is always open to listening about other coaching jobs.

- Lehigh and Lafayette are on the schedule for next year. They will also play Iona at the Barclay Center.

- Yale has not played any Connecticut team since they beat UConn in 2014. Now that Coach Hurley has UConn back, he is hoping for a game. In general, they have a hard time playing high-major programs in the northeast since teams know that they are a consistently strong program.
