Next year Penn should again play 30 games. There will be 4 Big Five games, 14 Ivy, 3 in the Wooden Legacy and Lafayette (who we always play). That adds up to 22 sure games. Anyone know of any others?

This is from 4/11/19 at the 2019-2020 Schedule thread.

Jon Rothstein reporting that Penn will be playing at Providence next year. That could be quite a test — they're 26th in Torvik's projections for next year — but still should be a winnable game.

Hopefully we get a lot more of this from all the Ivies.

Because we played in the exempt tournament in the Virgin Islands this year, I don't think that the Wooden Legacy Tournament gives Penn 3 extra games - I think it is an Ivy, rather than an NCAA, rule. Therefore, we are limited to 27 games - 14 Ivy, 4 Big 5, 3 in Wooden Tournament makes 21. There was a rumor about a possible game with Howard. That leaves 6 games which will probably include Lafayette. Don't know if Toledo comes to the Palestra.

It’s my understanding that the 2 in 4 MTE rule is not rolling, but rather discrete 4 year windows, so you can technically do 4 MTEs in 4 years, if you didn’t do 2 to start the window and don’t do 2 to end the next window.

No Ivy yet has tried to do an MTE beyond the 2 in 4 requirement and count the individual games (though they definitely should - depending on the quality of the MTE). Would much rather see teams dump their non-DI game and one other in a non-exempt year and keep an MTE than to refrain from entering one and play three terrible opponents.

Toledo cam 2 years ago so that commitment is done unless they renew. I agree with Mrjames and think the Wooden Legacy is an MTE. Penn did not MTE's prior to Ft Myers 2 years ago and then after that did the Virgin Islands trip so technically I think they can play in the Wooden and get to 30 games.

The schedule is usually ironed out late for the Quakers (June/July) and I expect this year to be no exception.

Does George Mason owe us a home game? We had a home-and-home with them in 2015-16 & 2016-17, then went down there again this past season.

Do we owe Rice a return game? They came to the Palestra this past season.

Good point on GM. That’s a likely. Home game. I think Rice is a one and done as Scott Pera wanted his team to see the Palestra. I could be wrong

Which would (presumably) mean Penn plays Yale at the Palestra on Saturday, February 15th and in New Haven on Friday, February 28th.

What's with the Sunday game? TV?

It looks like the Brown schedule page has been changed from last night and it now matches the article information. The game at Brown is listed at both pages as Saturday February 29th.

The last time the two teams met was the memorable 91-85 overtime game in the first round of the 1995 NCAA Tournament. The Quakers took the Tide to the limit but could not overcome Antonio McDyess' 39 points and 19 rebounds.

Yeah, a very winnable Purim game that afternoon in Baltimore.

Maloney just could not hit from downtown enough in a big time game, again. Jerome with one final furious flurry to try to get us back in it during OT, but that spelled the end to his college career, Maloney's, and indeed that of the entire starting lineup.

That game alone probably propelled McDyess to lottery material. We had no answer for him.

Penn's first round opponent in Wooden Legacy is Central Florida. I don't know how good they will be without Tacko Fall and Dawkin's son who really looked good against Duke in the tournament.

UCF-Penn is matched up with Pepperdine-Arizona in their portion of the bracket.
