Yale picked up its 3rd recruit for 2020.

Luke Kolaja, a 6'8" PF from Montclair, NJ and Blair Academy.

Verbal Commits had him listed with offers from Penn, Columbia, Bucknell, Lehigh, Lafayette, St. Joe's, GW and NJIT.

- Kolaja’s recruitment ballooned after a season of fine-tuning at Blair Academy. He learned how to utilize his 6-8, 185-pound frame and become a versatile player in all aspects of the game.

“I’ve become a lot better of a shooter," he said. "I used to think of myself mainly as shooter, but now I’ve been able to improve my handles. I’ve also gotten a lot more aggressive when it comes to rebounding. During the AAU season, I had quite a few rebounds per game. I proved that I’m not just a one-position player, I’m able to play many positions.”

His agility makes him a lockdown defender as well. His size allows him to guard centers, while he speed allows him to play outside of the paint and even matchup against guards. He credits that versatile to his season at Blair. -

FWIW, Luke is 215 not 185, plays a 3/4/5 shot 45% from 3 all 3 years in high school. A couple of power 5 conf schools were in touch right after the commit to see about waiting until the fall but Luke's excited about Yale.

Also, the first commit up top on this post is not clear whether that is a real commitment or not....

Yale has its fourth commit for 2020, Matt Knowling of East Catholic High School in Manchester, CT.

http://verbalcommits.com/players/matt-knowling

He had offers at Brown, Dartmouth, Boston University, Bryant, Fairfield, CCSU, Siena, Canisius, and Binghamton.

https://www.gametimect.com/yale-mens-basketball- te...

He is 6'5" and 190 pounds. Verbal Commits has him listed as a shooting guard, but the article says he played forward last year. He averaged 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists per game last year.

Yale did a really nice job navigating what looked like it would be a huge year for the Ivies before a lot of the high end prospects went HM. It's funny because this class isn't going to set off any ratings system alarm bells, but Gharram and Basa-Ama are the centerpieces of a strong class.

losing Colby Jones and agbo hurt. Would’ve been epic. Colby Jones is a stud. Stunned he picked Xavier. Thought it was yale or auburn. But he is underrated regardless though highly recruited after June with uga, auburn etc.
the Turkish kid is also the truth from what I have heard.. ratings be damned this is a nice class and this kid they just got tore it up in atl. I think he’s a better recruit than the big Harvard got. though I only watched each of them once live.

he is a nice replacement for bruner. and his ceiling like bruners (still) is as high as anyone yale has ever brought in (oni, etc)

If he can learn to step out, look out...he has great feet, is very long and athletic.

Yeah, really sad how much this class dried up. Going to be very interesting to see how Penn and Princeton respond. Yale is positioning itself nicely for life after the league's monster 2016 class moves on.

https://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/highschool/bas ...

- Basa-Ama, a 6-foot-9 forward, picked the Bulldogs over FAU, FGCU, Oklahoma and more. He is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports. The site also ranks him as the No. 38 power forward and No. 221 player in the 2020 class.

Basa-Ama was a first-team All-County pick as a junior after averaging 16.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. He helped lead the Scots to a 25-5 record and a trip to the regional finals. -
