Is this the tallest Bucknell team ever? There are 10 players 6'5" or taller. And other than Sechan, the guards are all 6'3".

Not sure. The 2013 team also had ten players 6-5 or taller, including one at 6-11, if you include Matt Banas. They did have one who was only 6-0 however (Ryan Frazier). That team had six players 6-7 or taller, compared to five on this year's team.

If you look at average heights, this year's team is taller if you exclude each team's walk-on. The 2013 team was taller with walk-ons included. But if you exclude walk-ons, the 2010 team was slightly taller than both of them. Their two walk-ons were short (DJ Rowe and Matt Fiery), but the rest were mostly tall, including Muscala, Probese, Andoh, Behan, Willman, Klebon, etc.

Here’s a tweet showing the team doing a leadership/teamwork exercise:

The roster is updated with the photos of the frosh. It says that Timmerman weighs 294 pounds. When the info was posted in June his weight was shown as 245 lbs. I hope this is a typo.

That 245 was likely based on his weight during the HS season. When I saw the new weight, hoped it was 249 as well, but looking at his pictures during the photo shoot, it is possible that 294 is accurate. You may recall prior to his junior HS season that he weighed about 295 pounds and was not very effective at that size. Then he managed to drop about 50 pounds due to hard work and much better eating, and his stock went up significantly. There is a possibility that this process was reversed over the past six months. I hope not.

Does the football team need a new OT?

This gain could be from weight lifting during summer workouts and preseason...from what I hear he has been looking good in practice

I was just wondering if Timmerman is the heaviest Bison in program history. Any ideas?

Listen that’s a lot to push around in the Patriot League. If he is as strong as his weight, he and Screen will be a very formidable front line.

Would it be fair to say Timmerman has a more polished game than Screen?

Husky, Timmerman looks like a below-the-rim player who is pretty smooth in this video. He has a nice J with some distance:

That may be a lot to push around, but the issue with most freshman post defenders is quickness and technique, not weight. There are very few frosh who can handle post defense against competent D1 centers. For example, Sestina struggled a lot, as did Nana.

One thing to remember is that Timmerman dropped his weight from 290 to 245 prior to his junior year in HS, and articles said that he improved dramatically after the weight loss.

As for Timmerman vs Screen, Timmerman may have more polished post moves, but I think Screen's superior athleticism and his jump hook will make him a better offensive player.

I can't tell you about the complete program history, but 294 would be the highest since 2000 and likely much further back in time than that.

Top three since 2000:

Josh Linthicum 6-11 270 lbs
Tarik Viaer-McClymont 6-7 264 lbs
Enoch Andoh 6-8 252 lbs

Note that these are senior weights. I know that Linthicum was much lighter as a freshman.

I suppose it shouldn’t matter, it appears Timmwrman and his coaches are fine with his weight, but I wonder if it is accurate? I mean, Embiid is listed at 280?

I don't think the coaches are OK with the weight. As for its accuracy, I don't know - but I do know Bucknell has generally been pretty accurate with heights and weights in recent years, according to the players.

Can Timmerman pass block? Bison football needs anyone right now.

I suppose if the coaching staff are not happy with the weight, it takes a lot of “courage” to arrive on campus 30-40 lbs over what coaches asked of you. I’m not sure if that speaks to his confidence in knowing his body and what he needs to be his best or he just didn’t care to do as asked? No idea but if this is not what coaches asked, then it seems he’s in the doghouse right off the bat.

It is unlikely 294 is his best weight after so much publicity was given to how much improvement he showed after losing 45 pounds as a junior in HS.

After his junior year - when he showed dramatic improvement, he said: "Everyone has been telling me you have the skills, but where you play will depend on what you do with your body. I said it was time. Got a trainer and I have been lifting and running. Really the biggest thing was changing my diet. That was what helped me lose the weight.”

And his HS coach said: "“Teams can’t just take him outside and take him off the dribble anymore, He’s much quicker when he catches the ball. His footwork has always been good, but now he’s faster. Additionally, on rebounds, his second jump is quicker. There’s a lot of benefits to it. He’s just a healthier kid, and it’s really starting to show.”"

Well, his diet must have consisted of LOTS of Big Macs and Fries over the last few months to add on about 50#. We are not talking about 5# or 10#. We are talking about FIFTY POUNDS!
