That was some entertaining reading. The buy-games category seems like a bit of a mismatch where mid-majors are concerned.

We edged out Colgate in a few categories.

Regarding Loyola, what does this mean?
“...some of the things you can do academically, you can’t do at the other spots in the league.”

I'll be surprised if Langel stays much longer.

Yes, he certainly could leave for a better job now, but I think he is waiting for a really good one. He was the other finalist for St. Joes, in his "hometown" of Philly, but they took Billy Lange instead. I think that was a major mistake on their part. Went for the name instead of the far better coach.

Do all PL schools have buy-games at Power Conference schools?

Do any PL schools pay lower level D1, D2, or D3 schools to play a home game at the PL school?

Jeff Goodman added a video with some details:

It is really interesting to see HC/BU tied for second. Both of their programs have been fairly weak for quite some time. If Lehigh had any type of student or community support, I think that they would jump up from #5 to #2.

In fairness last year's average home attendance for Lehigh was fourth (1,231) in the league. Bucky (2,635), Navy (1,670), Cross (1,360) topped the league. Lafayette was fifth (1,168). The bottom five were below 1,000 per game.

So its a tad unfair to say Lehigh doesn't have "any kind of local support." Its just that an occasional crowd of 2,200 gets lost in that barn.

Also, Bison attendance is a testament to a long standing hard earned winning tradition. Despite recent success Lehigh is still in the "top" ten of all time losses in Division One basketball. The 30's 40's, 50's and most of the 60's and 70's were really brutal....

That is VERY interesting. I did not know that. It is sort of the like the Phillies who were the first professional team to lose 10,000 games.

And to cap it off, just as Lehigh had the program going in the right direction, in 2004-05 they had to forfeit 13 games, giving them an official record of 1-28 for the year.

Last tidbit on this; even Pete Carril couldn't help, going 11-12 (1966-1967) in his one year at Lehigh, his first collegiate head coaching job. Pete somehow thought Princeton was a better opportunity....

I wonder how that worked out.
