Colgate checks in at #97. I thought that they would come in around mid to high-70s. With their top 5 scorers back, they should be ranked better than #97.

First off, Joel Welser, the creator of this series, is not necessarily any nationally recognized expert. I'm not even sure he's an expert, though he undoubtedly spends many, many hours compiling this series.
That being said, #97 is not bad at all for Colgate. They ended up #126 in kenpom last year so Welser's projected ranking would be a significant improvement over last year. Also, though teams with a lot of returning players can be expected to improve, not all do and those that do don't always improve by much.
If Colgate can finish around 100 this year, it will be a very successful year for them and make them a significantly better than odds on favorite to win the league and probably an odds on favorite to win the tournament championship.

So I guess that makes Bucknell #145.
