Apparently, my prediction of a few years ago has now come true; per the online schedule, Penn football will not be on over-the-air radio this year. If you want to hear them while driving, you'll have to have some digital device with you. One wonders how much longer it will be until hoops does the same thing.

Look at the bright side - the audio is available everywhere and it’s free.

The car I regularly drive is an '04 Solara with no digital capacity. Granted, I have 2 others that do, but no way I put in a new stereo just to get Penn football games. Of course, they can all be streamed on a device on ESPN+, right?

Let me add, how much can it possibly cost for Penn to buy 3 hours of time on 560 or 990 am, with the ability to sell advertising time? I think it's just a further demonstration that they don't believe promoting the program has any value, and that the only people who care will be able to follow it anyway. Of course, they could broadcast on XPN simply by saying this is what we are going to do. As someone who was at XPN when they first started cutting back (eliminating soccer and most hockey broadcasts), it's clear that they just don't care enough about on-air broadcasting (or opportunities for students to learn broadcasting) to go that route.

If you have ESPN+, you will be able to get video for all the Penn home games and the away Ivy games. So that would be 8 of the 10 games this year.

Delaware (and the CAA) signed an agreement with FloSports in the spring and they charge to watch.

Lafayette (and the Patriot) still has a deal with Stadium. I think you can see those games without having to pay.

As much as I agree with the XPN and non-promotion comments in general, the thought is that everyone has a smart phone so you can listen in any car, including the Solara even without bluetooth.

There just was something about over-the-air radio while cruising around on a Saturday. With ESPN+, I don't even have to bother with it until I'm ready to sit down with the Roku/Smart TV.

It appears that Columbia, Cornell, and Dartmouth are going the same route this year; Cornell's not even sending announcers to Marist this week.

Am I the only person on this board who likes to listen to the football broadcast while at the game? The delay built in to the internet broadcast makes this useless. Very disappointing. I would also add that I believe that Yale went to internet only 2 years ago. I remember not being able to get the over air broadcast while at the Bowl to watch Penn two years ago.
