Per twitter: https://twitter.com/pennbasketball/status /11775757...
It will be interesting to see how the team develops early. Things on the rumor mill:
-The freshman appear to be a strong group and one or more will contribute early
-Betley is cleared for full activities but SD will likely limit him significantly early
-Wang is still bothered by the knee and may not do much early in the season
-AJ is AJ
-Looking for big steps forward from Jarrod Simmons and Eddie Scott
WIll be interesting to see how the early story lines play out!

Wang did not participate in first practice. Knee is still an issue.

This will create opportunities for MLL, Simmons, and maybe Martz.

The Wang news is so disappointing - as much to me because it honestly doesn't seem from the limited writing about this like he's hit bottom, it's not getting better?
The other part is that we were a Top 100 team with a 6'10 dude bombing 3's at a 40% clip. Jarrod or one of los dos Max could be way better on defense, but it's not gonna be the same.

I agree. A healthy Wang with a year under his belt adds a dimension that makes us that much more difficult to defend. Hopefully the recovery and rehab process won't jeopardize his entire season.

A healthy Wang gives us someone who can put the ball through the hoop. Brodeur and Betley are terrific (if healthy), but we need another shooter on the floor. Bryce Washington may fit that bill, but we also need to see if he is healthy. Having Wang on the floor gives us a better look, as he may get more mismatches and he can pull a big man away to clear room for Brodeur.
If we can get all of these guys on the floor together, we will have a good team.

Did I miss something? What happened to Bryce?

Sorry, somehow I got it in my head that he was injured for much of the second half of last season. I just looked at ESPN and see he played 30 games. I apparently crossed a few wires in my memory. Sorry about that.

Has anyone laid eyes on the freshmen in practice?
Or heard anything from the staff about what they see/think now that they have been on campus playing for a month or two?

Twitter picture of practice today honoring Ryan Smith. I noticed a couple other things in this picture:
https://twitter.com/pennbasketball/status /11805700...
Mike Wang is in street clothes still (which I expected-no timetable for a return) but Jordan Dingle is in street clothes with a brace on his left leg......He was someone Donahue mentioned might play a lot at guard.

#%$@... we knew about Wang but Dingle must be pretty new injury. That’s 2 of our rotation hurt for sure. Anyone heard anything on Dingle? Knee brace over pants can’t be a great sign for a quick recovery type injury...

Wang started practicing this week from what I hear. Jordan Dingle is expected back before the start of the season.
The two scrimmages are to be expected with Donahue’s connection to Drexel coach and the Mihalich connection w Hofstra

If we can beat this Harvard team, it would indeed be very memorable.
