The Big Green get a good test run today against Colgate. Colgate is a team that finished at the top of the Patriot League last year and is projected to repeat this yar. They feature a possible 3 all conference team players in Jr. G: Jordan Burns, Sr. F: Rapolas Ivanauskas, and Sr. F-Will Rayman. In addition to the all conference players Colgate boasts they bring back a total of 4 starters from the tournament team and their top 5 scorers. This will be a good test of what the Green look like without Barry. Win or lose this will provide the coaching staff a look at multiple players and how they look outside the vacuum of Leede. It'll also be a chance for this new coaching staff to see how they work together.

Colgate will play Columbia and Cornell late in their noncon schedule. It'll be interesting to see those games and compare notes from the scrimmage against what our conference foes do. Note to self/staff: remember to pull those games off Synergy and compare to scrimmage notes. Particularly it will be interesting how we contend with the lack of size in the front court. Ivanauskas size and talent will be a test bed for the coaches to see where the help for Knight will come from with the loss of size on the inside with Emery's departure and the additional floor spacing shooting with Barry sidelined. Ivanauskas is a consensus preseason Patriot league player of the year and the league's best NBA prospect. Unlike the Big Green who came back together just as school started, Colgate has been playing together this summer touring Italy and playing several exhibition games back in August.

Scouting Colgate's top 3:

Ivanauskas:
Scores around the rim in half court settings. Creates much of his value at the free throw line. Good three point shooter. An extremely challenging player to defend, because of his potential to hurt you from both long range and at the rim.

Burns:
Creates much of his value at the free throw line. Limit catch and shoot chances, and make him beat you off the dribble. Terrifying three point shooter. Preventing his three point chances should be a top priority.

Rayman:
Creates much of his value at the free throw line. Limit catch and shoot chances, and make him beat you off the dribble. Unlike Burns, prone to take inefficient mid-range attempts. Terrifying three point shooter. Preventing his three point chances should be a top priority.

Whatever happens it's almost time for the games to begin. There should be a lot to takeaways from this scrimmage. I am ready for the CBB season to start. Go Big Green!!!
"...no excuses - only results!”
