Jeff Goodman's list of "secret" scrimmages had is at LaSalle on 10/25, and hosting Quinnipiac this coming Friday 11/1.

Any unofficial word on last Friday's scrimmage? Seems like there is less "news" than usual this preseason.

I have reached out to someone very close to the team although he tends to be cautious regarding comments.

Watched Media Day, mens and womens teams. Really impressed with women's new head coach. Based on Bella and Littlefied comments and facial expressions, they appear to be completely on board with Coach Berube. Sounds like Berube is is making some changes as to last year's style of play with greater emphasis on defense and running the ball up court off defense. Bella has been putting emphasis on getting stronger to help her get ready for the pros as well as being more vocal.

As to the men, Richmond and Jaelin, were at the podium with Mitch. Sounds like the core will be Richmond, Jaelin, Schiegger, and DesRosiers with Johns, Wright and Friberg along with Gladson and Morales but still much too early. Mitch is never very good or authentic when he is being interviewed. He makes the same comments every year.

Walkaway for me is that the women may be at a different level at this point and time but time will tell.

Based on Media Day, it does not sound like it based on the comments of both coaches.

Based on Mitch's comments, I would not be the least bit surprised if Johns is the starting guard with Llewellyn. With him on the court, the Tigers have 3 very good defenders including Richmond and Jaelin. I think that Mitch likes his toughness and I tend to agree. Wright followed by Morales followed by the California SG will get some minutes in all likelihood. I believe that Johns is a player based on comments from someone close to the program.

A 20pt win LaSalle win...Explorers never trailed in the game...Nice starting line-up of Beatty Saul Ed Shareef Ray.. Ray had a great rebounding game 11-14 boards...Stone shot the ball very well(18pts)...The team look very active.

No.

My source bird-dogs for a handicapping service that doesn't generally opine on Ivy League games. He was only interested in LaSalle.

P.S. The Explorers a strong play in their opener against Iona.

Hard Cuts#1 just released on web site. Gives a pretty clear indication as to who will be getting minutes starting off. Video suggests that Johns will be getting minutes probably as 2nd guard. Would not be surprised that the Tigers go with 3 guards against certain match ups with Llewellyn, Wright/Morales, and Johns on the floor. Not sure if the Tigers have a reliable 3rd forward, perhaps Friberg has the first opportunity.

Women may have a reasonably tough initial game against a senior driven Rider team.

Would not be surprised if a healthy Wright pairs with Llewellyn while Schwieger and Derosiers play at
3 and 4. Johns will get a lot of minutes at both 2 and 3. He should be the most versatile defender, ala Stephens, although that's quite a burden for a sophomore to bear. Interesting trip this weekend to the new home of the Golden State Warriors to play the USF Dons. Yale visits next Monday night, but not at the Chase Center. Perhaps we'll be able to compare Tigers and Bulldogs early in the season.
