Super proud of this young man. Posted earlier this year thought he could be a star in the league IF he put in the work. He has worked so hard not only on his game but his emotions and did just a beautiful job tonight. He had a few freshmen moments and will have many ups and downs during this learning process but couldn’t happen to a better kid. Congrats to him and the entire Penn team

Well said, coach.
Possibly the most impressive debut by a Penn freshman since Ugonna.

I think AJ had 23 and 8 in his debut against Robert Morris

I'll take 24 and 7 at Alabama and their backcourt vs 23 and 8 vs the RMU front court. Dingle looked like Foreman and Woods rolled into one, who can finish at the rim.

U was 14 and 8 at Kentucky, which is quite the baptism.
Dingle looks quicker than either Foreman or Woods. Wimp actually said that Penn looked quicker overall than Alabama, and Dingle, Goodman and Monroe had a lot to do with that being true.

Both frosh clearly have the talent and strength to play quality perimeter D. They were both OK but no one was great. That’s the next step.

Hey nychoops! You definitely called it and a brilliant start for Jordan and hopefully start of a great Penn career. I’m sure more frosh moments to come with ups and downs but love potential and his motor as well.
I’d absolutely put this up there with (likely above) AJ’s and U’s first game performances for whatever that’s worth.

I go into a depression when the Penn season ends and then it's tough to come back and start arguing politics with Colin again on the off-topic board, so I stay away for a few months, but I couldn't wait until tomorrow to start reading again and just had to post about Jordan. He literally went ANYWHERE he wanted on the court, with the game on the line, one of our stars handed it to HIM, and he only proceeded to fearlessly attack the rim and WIN the game for us. Words can't describe how excited I am for this season. You could see it from his very first step.
NYCHoops, you were the first person I thought of when I saw that first step. We didn't get to see him at the scrimmage and it was immediately obvious what a difference maker he can be. The play with 4 mins left where he attacked the basket, got blocked, and then Eddie (who had multiple game saving plays) knocked it away only to see Jordan chase it down and immediately drain a 3, said it all. Kid just wants the ball. You can't teach that. I am beyond fired up at what I saw from him tonight. Devin legitimately played poorly, Betley looked like he hadn't played in a year, Bryce was off, the 3s barely fell and they STILL beat a power 5 team on the road, and that's not even close to possible without this kid.
Loved hearing AJ, who was noticeably more ripped at the scrimmage, talk about what it's like to have this kind of talent around him.

nychoops, I was remembering that you were very fired up about Dingle when he committed. I have to give you props on spotting him. Dingle looked very good on his high school highlight videos, but in some ways he looked better in his first NCAA game. He played under control, was very steady, and simply looked like he belonged out there. He started to handle the ball more in the 2nd half under pressure and looked very poised. I agree that it was one of the most impressive debuts I've seen.
An ice cold 3 with 3 minutes left in the middle of chaos, and then the game winner. He looks like a winner.

Thank you nychoops for your contributions to this board. You were on the mark with Dingle.
it's just one game but Jordan has left quite an impression already.

I never realized that his uncle was Temple's Daniel Dingle. Add that to his dads run at UMass and that's a pretty good pedigree.

His father was part of the UMass team that beat Dunphy in his first Penn tourney appearance in '93.

I was in 6th grade history class watching a video when the grainy score came across the bottom of the screen. I couldn't believe we had made a game of it.

I think I know which of Steve's quotes will get the most attention on here, and let the record show he went there unprompted.
Also, if you're going to ask me about Wang... he's still out. I'm not going to try to guess when he'll be back.

OK, ok just kidding, haha.
On that topic, I'm kind of hoping he manages to come back for the CA road trip. It is coming to his second home (his US home), we will need him against tougher competition if we can manage to win that first game against UCF, and selfishly I plan to attend at least one game so would love to watch him play in person.

Inky reporter on twitter says groin injury. But to not make the trip? Not great.
#Penn Freshman guard Jordan Dingle missed today’s game with a groin injury, coach says. He hasn’t been praticing. There is no further update on his return at this time. Dingle is the team’s second-leading scorer (16.3 points) and had 24 points in the upset win over Alabama.

For the older folks on the board, I highly recommend Twitter as a social medium, if you’ve ever thought about dabbling. It certainly adds more value than Russian Facebook.

I have to assume he's out for Providence, but are we looking at going into this tourney without him too? He has been active supporting the team on Twitter, but I got nothing else. Sure would be a shame to go all the way out there with the squad that suited up Tuesday.
