Syracuse 26 Cornell 25 at the half.
Both Boeheim's are leading scorers. Jimmy with 12 and Buddy with 10.
Both teams struggling from the field.
Syracuse is leading rebounding 17-16.

Cornell hung in due to the slow pace of the game and neither team was able to score on a consistent basis in the first half. CU played good defense, had a few steals, and played hard during the first half. I know they wanted to slow the pace but watching both teams is like watching paint dry. CornelI passed up some good looks with about 8-10 seconds on the shot clock on several occasions and then ended up taking some poor shots as the clock expired. Jimmy Boeheim played well scoring 25 points but took some tough shots that had little chance of going in.
On a positive note, Jordan Jones played well and made some shots when CU really needed them. He looks to be a stand still jumper shooter, SU was daring CU to shoot, and to his credit, Jones did. With the exception of Jones, the CU guards did not do much to help. McBride, Knapp, and Noll played 59 combined minutes and had a combined total of 2 points, not going to win many like that. Overall, a respectable showing by Cornell.

I'm going to have McBride's back and say his 5 assists, 0 turnovers and 3 offensive rebounds helped, even his 0-3 shooting didn't.
I agree about Jones and would like to see him get more minutes, freshman mistakes and all.
It is truly amazing how bad this team is at 3 pt shooting (27.5%, bottom quarter nationally) and how much like they like to take 3's (48% of their shots, top 25 nationally). If the guys can fix that, the offense may be okay.

Fair enough on McBride, I just thought the team was looking to him early on and needed some offensive production like previous games. Interesting stats on the 3-point shots percentages attempted and made. I agree that players have to make more shots but based on a small sample of 5 games I am not sure that is possible. So far, they have made 28% of 3-point shot attempts. If that does not change over the next few games, then the coaching staff has to change the offensive philosophy to maximize the skill sets of the team. If you do not have 3-point shooters, then you cannot take every one you see. Even Jimmy who is the leading scorer on the team is shooting 27% from three.

I refuse to believe they are a 28% shooting team overall, historically that would be close to the worst in the nation, but it's not clear who is a good shooter. Jimmy is off right now and was a 35% 3pt shooter last year. McCarty has cooled (1 of his last 10) and was a 34% 3pt shooter at the JUCO level. Those are acceptable numbers for a forward, but hardly Wittman-esque. Maybe Jones? Harshany?
The guys are hitting a torrid 56% from inside the arc and a rock solid 74% from the line. There may be a lesson there.
