It’s difficult to feel real positive going into this game. I hope the guys play well and with confidence but to be honest, I’m. It fired up about this game at all.

Ugh. Bad shooting, poor rebounding, 13 turnovers...ugly half. I know it’s tough against power conference teams, but they should be able to compete a little better. Bruce is the star thus far.

81-33 middle of second half. Sounds like that infamous 1966 Temple football game.

Even with the score just nice to see all the Bucknell colors in the crowd here on site

Many like to criticize other PL teams and how poorly they show against OOC teams, but no performance can be as ugly as this. Throw in the PSU second half, the comical errors against Canisius, and this is not the Bucknell teams we are accustomed to seeing.

Smartest person in the program is whoever took over the schedule after Griffin left in the spring. We don’t play anyone OOC from here out and it’s a good thing. There are two guys that are getting significant minutes who, if their shot is not falling offer very little else. Worse, they seem to get their head up their butt and shut down completely as opposed to revving it up on the other side. The original thinking was we were going to be good defensively because she would switch on everything ala Nova because of our personnel. That is not happening. We don’t “hard hedge” or “hard switch” anything! More disconcerting is we don’t even seem to be identifying opponents primary scorers at all. We got absolutely mercenary shooters/scorers coming off hook screens and ball hand-offs totally unimpeded/unharrassed. The kid Johnson tied the game at Canisius on a simple high post ball screen for an uncontested 18 footer straight on. Sotos seemed to be trying to draw a moving moving screen foul instead of covering his man and Spear clearly had no understanding of whether he was hedging or not. Lazy, dispirited play that showed in the passing and defensively. If the shots aren’t falling you have to play twice as hard on the other side of the court. Broke my own 24 hour rule because very immaturely I really need to vent. One of the announcers perfunctorily said “Bucknell still playing hard”...I don’t agree - thought we had one foot in the Orlando gate the whole game. What was Rice supposed to offer when inserted down 20?...has the kid even scored from the field in 5 games? He looked physically overwhelmed the last two games. Was that supposed to change against Cuse’

How many times is Ellis going to be allowed to just totally lose his defensive assignment? Think we should be spending more time concentrating on who we’re supposed to stop then what color sneakers we’re gonna wear. Apologies in advance if that was too personal

I am critical of PL teams that embarrass themselves and it was our turn today. They seemed totally unprepared to deal with the zone defense and utterly clueless how to stop their offense. Keep in mind Syracuse scored 34 points against UVA. Unlike past teams they show little fight when they get behind. I think that is where we miss players like Mackenzie, Sestina, and Brown. I think Avi and Sotos are trying to play that role, but it's not working.

Their defense is unacceptable. That’s all I came to say. I didn’t expect a lot from this team, but it’s worse than expected.

Not ready for prime time. We have come to expect the Bison to be competitive in games vs P5 teams (and occasionally win). Not the case these two games. I thought CU looked bad against Syracuse, but they were far better than us. We were never in this one. I watched on delay, and pretty much fast forwarded the 2nd half.

Coach Davis will be and should be on the hot seat. And I’m not overreacting. This was pathetic.

Just FYI, coach ND will not be on any hot seat. He is here till he leaves or commits a serious crime. And I am good with that.

One thing to keep in mind. This team is now all Davis recruits. The bison coaches are definitely not recruiting at the same level that Paulsen did. A wise old friend of mine used to say all the time you have to have at least one solid player in every recruiting class. I will break that down a bit more by saying that you need a freshman or two to contribute with value. I see a lot of development needed in the recruiting classes meaning the players are not ready to step in the floor when they arrive as freshman. We need to look at the other patriot league schools and it is easy to see the kids that are ready to play upon arrival I look at this team and there is much work to be done with not only the freshman but also mid and upper class men. I know you all won’t agree and that’s ok! I am just giving an opinion from the eyes of over 40 years of being a part of this game.

Bison63 I disagree. This is completely his team now and recruits. They’re not good and I think a losing record is a serious possibility. I’ll break down my observations later but this season has been ugly and I’m beginning to sense a program problem that true believers won’t want to recognize.

Anyone else remember Toomer, Moore and Newman being suspended two seasons ago? Anyone notice the lack of academic accolades from the Davis recruits as well?

Davis deserves serious scrutiny because this is all his mess while people remain polite.

The coach didn’t shoot 3-24 from 3. Against VT we missed 3’s that were standard looks. A simple film review with a chart of every 3 pt FGA Today I’m sure would reveal just how badly their zone pushed out our shooters. Nobody penetrated and there was a total inability to convert 2 pt FGA’s on direct passes in. Thought Bruce got fouled on every shot and hung in well. On a composite level (ie, 6 games) there’s been very little consistency in performance at the individual level (maybe a case for Bruce and Funk). Everybody else a tale of two cities from game to game. We have no interior game, no dribble drive game and little creativity. Thankfully we won’t see anyone near the likes of PSU and Cuse from here out and we need to get MUCH tougher. May be better to bring Newman off the bench and start getting Rhodes (offensively not developed) some minutes. When that kid boxes you out you stay boxed out...we need to get much tougher (without fouling as well). That’s not gonna be easy. I can’t imagine Seattle looking anything like the last three games. With respect to recruiting, what left when Bruce and Avi are gone...rhetorical

So the program has taken substantial steps backwards. Got it.
Listen I’m not trying to be a butt here but I hope we can all agree the program is not what it was.

I also remember a time on this board when Paulsen was frequently criticized and rightfully so.

Davis is not doing a good job right now.
