Heartbreaker, but I like how the team is developing.

Heartbreaker. This team is way better than the 0-5 record suggests, and the schedule now turns to much more winnable games from here on out. 16/18/5 with 2 blocks for Aririguzoh, 3 big 3s in the 2nd half from Friberg, and Llewellyn had some crucial shots down the stretch too.
Tigers 4/9 from the FT line hurts in a game decided by one possession like this one

ASU is a really good team... a great effort. Just came up short. Hope the guys can build on this. Never feels good to see a goose egg in the win column.

Right, more important than whether that shot goes in, is what the younger players showed on the court. They kinda fell apart with Richmond off the court but I think as the young bigs develop they’ll weather that better. Lots of good stuff to take away from the game, have a much better feeling about the season going forward.

Have always been a Henderson fan but do not think that there are some issues with his coaching this year but there is time to turn it around but just do not see it.
Again, I hope that I am dead wrong -- probably am.
Glad that I was so off based regarding this game. Arirguzoh played a very strong game against big time competition. Maybe, there is some hope for this team after all plus it sounds like Schwieger's return is right around the corner.

Loved Evbuomwan's calm confidence getting to the rim on the Tigers' last offensive possession. Tigers really pounded the paint tonight against a big and athletic ASU team. Was definitely not the "traditional" upset bid buoyed by hot shooting, the Tigers took it right at ASU's bigs

Tigers have played a little better with each game and tonight nearly pulled off a big upset. Great energy on both sides of the ball for most of tonight’s game with just a few exceptions. Great coaching by MH to get the team on track. This Tiger team will surprise some people. I’m excited!

Mitch significantly reduced the rotation with no minutes for Wright, 2 minutes for DesRosier, 5 minutes for Barnes and 9 minutes for Johns -- it definitely helped. Morales made a significant contribution but the starters were on the floor for the bulk of the game. When Schwieger returns, the Tigers should have 7 reasonably reliable players.
He may be able to give some minutes to others as the competition becomes slightly more reasonable.
It will be interesting to see how Arirguzoh performs against IL bigs -- Brodeur, Atkinson, etc.

and in the back of my mind I keep thinking, even if they cobble together a good team this year, what about next year???

I think the one positive for the Tigers is that this year can be used to develop those other options. Aririguzoh will surely be a big loss next season, but basically everyone around the league is relying heavily on players who won't be there next year. Of the 200 minutes played by Tigers last night, just 58 of those minutes were played by juniors and seniors (33 for Aririguzoh, 18 for Morales, 5 for Barnes and 2 for Desrosiers). Schwieger will take up minutes in the rotation once he returns, but still there's a ton of guys getting invaluable experience this season. The freshman class played 63 minutes last night, and Langborg and Evbuomwan were both really solid in starting roles. It'd be nice to have some more experience, but long term I think the chances for development are high

It appears, although very early, that Evboumwan and Lanborg can play. Additionally and kind of a surprise is how well Friberg is playing other than being a pure shooter. Although not quick or a big jumper, he has been pretty solid as a rebounder and defender. Someone told me that Friberg rarely misses a 3 pt shot in practice -- simply deadly.
The graduation of Arirguzoh will be a huge loss and Evboumvan is simply not tall enough or big enough for non-conference games unless he grows 2 inches and ganins 30 pounds, unlikely. There really is no one else on the bench who is over 6'8" other than frosh O'Connell who is a work-in-progress at best.
Perhaps, Kellman and Evbuomwan could team up as they both have long wing spans and can jump but the Tigers need size. Arirguzoh is only 6'9" but he obviously has bulk and can jump as evidenced by rarely losing jump ball opportunities.
It is possibly but unlikely that Mitch can find a 6'10-11" senior in high school who can play in year one.
Evbuosmwan is impressive as he is multi-skilled but he needs to reduce the number of steps.

I did forget that the Tigers have a 6'9" 245lb C coming in next year but he looks like a Gladson type of a player -- bulk but not a leaper.

Mason Hooks, the center coming in next year, is now up to 6-10. He's an excellent passer and rebounder, can score with both hands, and is very solid physically. But he's not a leaper.

Aririguzah was a work in progress when he came in too.

That was a complete turnabout from the previous second-half collapses. They just kept fighting and playing through mistakes and stayed in contention throughout.
Those missed free throws and the bizarre out-of-bounds call are especially painful in a close game. Plus, there's still a lot for the Tigers to work on. But from this game you can sort of see the statue embedded in the marble--Friberg, Lamborg, and Tosan E. look like players who could be very good, and if added to Aririguzoh, Llewellyn, Morales, and Schwieger, that gives a nice nucleus with possible valuable depth from Barnes, Desrosiers (who actually can play), etc.
