As I noted previously, the women hadn't really played anyone before St. Joe's, so it's a bit disturbing that the offense regressed so much against the Hawks. Padilla got a lot of points but was much less efficient, and no one else particularly shined, although they were still positive in A/TO ratio. They did, however, have their best defensive effort of the season so far, creating 17 turnovers and making it difficult for St. Joe's to operate on offense for long stretches. Today we get a much sterner test, going down to Cameron. The Blue Devils are currently 20th in RealTimeRPI's power ranking, although I figure a lot of that is due to schedule, as the two good teams they've played so far, Texas A&M and Northwestern, both beat them pretty badly, and the latter's not ranked much higher than we are (71 vs. 80). Nevertheless, this is going to be a big step up for penn. In particular, I'll be interested in seeing how Padilla does on defense against guards that she's giving up two-three inches to, and how Parker does against a 6'5" center. Parker seemed a bit out of sorts against St. Joe's; I hope the knee isn't bothering her again. Fortunately, we've had a long rest coming into this one, which we will need, as we now have three games in six days.

Anyway, the game starts at 1, and can be seen here (I'm pretty sure that any ESPN+ subscribers should be able to access this.) I'm going out of a bike ride, crazy person that I am, so RBG and JDP, feel free to provide live updates.

A bit of a chilly morning in Raleigh ... taking a walking tour of UNC ... so far I can say the service is at a relaxed pace and the grits are very tasty

As for the game ... certainly winnable (not surprised with the 4.5 line). Duke, while individually talented by non Power 5 standards, they are outside their historical Top 25 team dominance - don’t think they are getting any votes in the polls - but the Ivies are 0-11 vs Duke. Mike’s teams have played well in these games

While the game will center on Eleah and Kayla and their play on the offensive and defensive ends ... other keys will be: the the ability of the team to sustain 40 min of pressure (especially intensity over the last 10 min) ... having a strong perimeter game ... the ability for the underclassman to change their games to counteract what Duke is trying to take away.

Game is on ACCNX - so not sure on ESPN+

With four games in eight days, including against a resurgent La Salle team that came from behind to beat Harvard, it is a grind it our week for the Quakers.
