Hoping that we start to turn the corner after a week of practice. Would be nice to see strong play for a full game instead of just a half. Likely need to do that to be an improving and competitive UMass team.

Very good first half up until those last few minutes. Baker has brought the energy and the offense. He's usually the X-factor for us against better competition. Ledlum and Kirkwood have both looked good attacking the basket, but have both also dribbled into a few turnovers because of that.

Bryce looks like he's trying to facilitate more — plus, one ref keeps incorrectly calling his stepback a travel.

Welsh hasn't been able to give us much in his minutes, today or in general. I wouldn't be surprised if Forbes is ahead of him for good.

Well, Bryce has four fouls, three of them offensive. Between this and the phantom travels they kept calling on him, it's been a tough day for him with the refs.

Finally, a consistent 40 minutes. Too many TO's and fouls, and little to no contribution from Bryce on offense, but a good solid effort. Beat a KP#183 team by 34 points.

Some interesting stats:
- 3 point shooting was respectable at 8-19, but not remarkable
- Lewis played only 11 minutes (9pt, 6rbs)
- Baker played 20 minutes (19pts, 4rbs)
- Aiken played 19 minutes (4pts, 5TO's)
- Lewis, Baker & Aiken limited by foul trouble with 4 each
- Haskett hit a 3 and continues to lead the team (and league) in 3pt% at 48.3%
- 17-20 FT's (85%)
- outrebounded UMass 40-27
- 19TO's, 12 in first half

UMass pressed and pressured Bryce. Amaker (finally) let the team aggressively finish against the press, leading to a series of strong finishes by Kirkwood, Ledlum, Djuricic and Baker. For years I've lamented that Harvard usually holds the ball and tries to run an offense after crossing midcourt. With ball handlers like Kirkwood, Aiken, Bassey, Ledlum and Haskett I like the aggressiveness to make the opponent pay for pressing/overplaying.

Juzang is a concern. He has struggled since being injured midway through last year's Ivy slate. Averaging under 3 points a game and shooting 16% from the longer 3 point line. Something isn't right.

All in all, good effort. If they can cut down on To's and fouls this is hopefully a nice precursor of things to come.

15 players and 10 of them getting double digit minutes made this appear like a scrimmage.

Wonder if somebody gave the refs a list of things to look for with Aiken. The step-back travels, 2 charges and ticky-tac elbow while dribbling came fast and furious. The UMass defender who was "elbowed" turned it into maybe the Flop of the Year, that would have hit 9.8 by a gymnastics judge.

Aiken does travel a lot on his stepback. So do a lot of players, but it’s getting rarer to get the call.
