Pulling the discussion form the other boards

As exams are upon us … time for a quick review (all powered by RealTime RPI)

Ivies are #8 conference with a 43-23 record:

1 team top 5 (Princeton 5)
4 teams top 100 (Yale 59, Penn 83, Dartmouth 89)
6 teams top 150 (Cornell 111, Harvard 124)
7 teams top 200 (Columbia 171)
Only Brown 323

Projection: 4-5 post season teams

1 team top 25 (Princeton 16) – second NCAA bid if they do not win the tournament
3 teams top 100 (Yale 57, Penn 62) – NIT if they do not win the tournament
4 teams top 150 (Harvard 104) – NIT bubble if they do not win the tournament – a pay to play tournament
7 teams top 200 (Columbia 167, Cornell 185, Dartmouth 200)
8 teams top 300 (Brown 287)

Dartmouth has the most vol – sat they still has 7 out of conference games – they are projected to lose 4, all but 1 is vs. teams in bottom 180 – so could be 6-1 as much as 3-4

Results by RPI:

Consistently beating teams outside the top 100 – but where the Ivies overall need to improve is versus the top 100 – playing more top 100 games and getting more wins.

Top 25: 1-3 – Princeton win over FGC
26-50: 0-3 – 3 to come: Penn has games vs. Drexel at home – Villanova away; Yale at UNC
51-100: 4-6 – 4 to come: Princeton 3-0 with 1 to come; Harvard with a win over Cal. Columbia has two games to come that could help their RPI
101-200: 19-6 – 12 to come
201-300: 16-3 – 11 to come
301+: 3-2 – 5 to come

35 games to come – Ivies (43-23) could get reasonable get to 65-70 out of conference wins … anything over 70 and conference RPI would move up … only 62 wins are projected

As for the Ivies … I think Columbia, Cornell and Dartmouth will make more noise than the projected records indicate … 3 of the 4 back to backs on the road will be tough and more slipups are likely than the record.

Realtime RPI projection:

Princeton 14-0
Penn 10-4
Harvard 9-5
Yale 9-5

Columba 5-9
Dartmouth 5-9
Cornell 3-11
Brown 1-13

Common Opponents – 17 teams: 6 with 3 and 11 with 2 … so far 12 common games with Harvard looking to be behind both Penn and Yale

Albany (290): Columbia L – Cornell W
Colgate (58): Columba L – Yale L
Hartford (299): Harvard W – Penn W
La Salle (144): Harvard L – Penn W
Maine (196): Brown W – Harvard W
Mass-Lowell (209): Cornell W – Yale W
Merrimack (173): Brown L – Dartmouth W
NJIT (249): Cornell W – Penn W
Northeastern: Harvard L – Yale W
Quinnipiac (181): Harvard W – Yale W
Sienna (201): Harvard W – Penn W
St Joseph’s (191): Columbia L – Penn W
