Monmouth is another team that turns the ball over on 20% of their possessions this season, even against the lesser teams on their schedule (Kennesaw State, Stetson, Norfolk State). I'd be interested to see the Tigers full court press a little bit at different parts of the game rather than just late in the game and use the athleticism and variety of options they have at the guard/wing spots (Morales, Llewellyn, Langborg, Johns, Wright, Evbuomwan all seem quick and athletic).
Princeton's 341st in the country in defensive turnover percentage, so they're really not forcing a lot of turnovers, and I think a lot of the defensive struggles early on can be attributed to the inability to turn teams over with any consistency

It strikes me that tonight's game is a time that Mitch and the Tigers simply say no more losing to opponents that are clearly beatable at home.
It is time to lay down the hammer and play INTENSE defense. No more weak guard defensive play. If someone is committed to defense, Mitch should immediately sub.
Hope to watch something different than we have seen so far.
Doubleheader today/tonight and women should have a relatively easy game. Most important aspect to today's game is to see Bella on the floor to get ready for Penn State game. Probably, do not have to worry regarding defensive intensity by the women but you never know as this game is a tweener between Marist and PSU.

Cannot shoot 3s’ - Monmouth can. Skip 3s and go to the rim.

Team is bad both ways especially on offense tonight Schwieger has been brutal. Wright horrible. They stink - can no longer watch fundamentally poor basketball. Too painful. Mitch get a plan.

First time seeing the Tigers in person this year and this is brutal. Poorly coached, bad basketball.

Watch the women play Penn State this weekend to watch real basketball. Sad to watch this debacle. What happened to home court advantage?

2/22 from 3, now at .292 for the year.
Is that bad coaching, or bad recruiting?

So many things I don’t understand about MH’s coaching. Team finally starts a game hot, goes up 8 early then he runs a bunch of new guys in and the lead evaporates. He applies full court pressure one time in the second half and we immediately steal the ball but then we never try the pressure again. They get their offense clipping along nicely with effective interior passing then at crunch time have JL dribble the clock down to 7 seconds, go one on four hero ball and he misses a circus shot when we could have gone up 4 late. Substitutions seem almost random. This is just a really hard team to follow.

Most of the attempts have been open shots, feet stationary, right at the line. That's not bad coaching.
Morales is 4 for 7 from 3-ball land, but twice passed up open looks last night. That may be coaching.

Agreed. I was addressing the three point shooting.
I wonder however, if coaches have drills for three point practice that simulate game situation (i.e. faster pace, having someone run at the shooter).

Upon reflecting on last night's game, the Tigers could use the excuse that Monmouth shot significantly above their 3pt or FT percentages or the Tigers shot significantly below their low 3pt y-t-d FG % with several shots spinning out. Mitch could also gripe about a significant number of non calls with Arirguzoh getting hacked when he touched the ball but at the end of the day, it would be excuses as the Tigers had every opportunity to win this game.
Tigers had multiple opportunities to close out the game due to miscues by Monmouth and stronger defense towards the end of the game. I had a feeling[ that when Schwieger inadvertently lost his balance and gave the Monmouth big another FT attempt that it would come back to haunt the Tigers. Basketball Gods do punish.
At this time, everything that is possible is going against the Tigers but it is primarily a function of a poor offensive strategy and inconsistent defense.
It may all change when the Tigers see the Quakerites come to town as was the case last year as the basketball Gods owe Mitch some better fortune but most of the damage is self-inflicted.
For FDU, I would go with the strategy of simply tossing down the ball to Richmond every other series and clear out or on an alternate basis, have Schwieger take his guy down to the rim. Frosh Edo is an occasional option. Start from the inside and go outside vs. starting the outside and driving in. Jaelin can pull off some occasional magic but Arirguzoh/Schwieger is the higher percentage option. Stop having Richmond set up at the FT to 3 pt line to start the offensive flow.
It is indeed what the offensive strategy utilized by Carla in the 3rd qtr yesterday to overcome 1st half offensive woew.

This game had two plays on SportsCenter's Top 10 that evening. Both times, the Tigers were on the wrong side of the highlights.
Brown also made that segment of the Top 10. Again, on the wrong side (they played St. John's).

I just watched the game for the first time, before reading the comments. I saw some of the same things as others, with some things jumping out.
1) Wright played a heck of a second half. He was all over the place, making steals, drawing fouls, mixing it up.
2) The Tigers had many, many good looks from three. If they had merely shot poorly instead of terribly they would have won the game.
3) For two seasons now, Princeton has been playing man-to-man on the basis of "make them throw one more pass," without consistent success. They just are not able to play that way possession in and possession out, especially when they substitute. When they apply any kind of ball pressure, bring a double, or jump a passing lane, on the other hand, they look a lot better, often even when they don't force a turnover, because they're able to scramble and recover and the opponent gets thrown out of rhythm. I would like to see more zone and more defensive variation to confuse the offense, also.
4) Given the poor outside shooting, I liked the interior passing we saw when help defenders converged in the lane as an alternative to the kick-out. When your man leaves you to help on the ball, a hard cut to the basket will often screw up their rotation and you will get a clean inside look.
5) The team just looked tense to me on the sideline throughout most of the game, like they were suffering or expecting to lose. I didn't see much vocal leadership among the players, although perhaps I missed what is really going on.
6) Llewelyn was back to having trouble on his drives to the basket, getting the ball knocked away or missing the layup quite a few times. But given the way those around him were shooting from outside, him forcing the issue was understandable. Aririguzoh can't be expected to do it every time down the floor.
This group has shown flashes of very good play, but they don't look like they know how to keep it up throughout a game.

The bottom line is bad shooting.
If Duncan Robinson can make it from Williams to the Miami Heat just by being able to shoot, it stands to reason that there are shooters out there; we just haven't been able to find them.
"Make shots" takes on a bit of irony.
