The key is we need to win and we need Iowa State to beat Kansas Saturday. A UNI loss would also help the cause, but I don't want to root against them. Also, we need an LSU loss to Florida.

I don't know if UNC or Michigan will fall out b\c they had "quality" losses. But if UNC loses to Miami or Michigan to Purdue, they will be gone. Same goes for Indiana in the Coaches Poll, but I believe they are only 23 or 24 in the AP, so the ugly Wisconsin loss may be enough to drop them out.

Let's just make sure we take care of business in Worcester, b\c that will be far from an easy task!

we are much closer to being ranked in the ap than the coaches poll.

ap losses this week:

7. florida
18. iowa
22. michigan
23. north carolina
24. indiana

right now it is close (indiana is out, michigan is out, unc might be out). bufan is right, though. an lsu or kansas loss would help us... a lot.

Also, UAB only managed 37 points in a loss to UTEP.

Michigan's loss was at home so I think they're gone.

I forgot to mention that UTEP killed UAB. UAB was above os in ESPN and on our tail in the AP.

I am not sure Indiana is definitely out though. It you look at the number of votes they had, they had twice as many as us. In the AP, UNI had in the 110s, but then it jumped up to the 160s for 22-24. Another loss from Michigan, UNC, or Indiana would force them out. The way I see it, Bucknell needs to beat HC, and get 2 losses this weekend from the following six teams: Michigan, UNC, Indiana, UNI, LSU, and Kansas. LSU at Florida seems like a good shot, so then we just need one other.

Which if you ask me is the most likely reason we would stay out of the top 25. I think we will get the help we need. It will be on our shoulders. We didn't capitalize on the chance when we lost to Nova. Let's hope we get the big W this time.

Winning in the Hart is a tall order. Hate to sound like a pessimist but we need to play our best up there. More importantly, we need to play BOTH halves of the game.

we all know that winning today is important, but michigan is getting stomped by purdue, and indiana is getting beaten pretty soundly by iowa. it would be pretty nice to go to UNI ranked...

Not to mention UNI should still be ranked after their win against Wichita St. and what should be a win tonight over Missouri St. at home.

We NEED Florida to beat LSU too (and of course for us to win)

The way I see it, Kansas is in unless they get upset later. But, there will be room for at least 2 new teams. We will be the second if we win. The only kink could be if SHU were to upset UConn today. That could shoot them all the way up to the top 25.

IF Bucknell wins, I don't see any way we don't get ranked at least in the AP poll unless both Seton Hall and Kansas win. Then, we have a shot, but it isn't a sure shot.

Michigan, LSU, and Indiana all lost today. That's 2 losses for both Michigan and Indiana this week. I have to think they'll drop out. Plus UNC already has one loss and has a tough game at Miami tomorrow. UNI plays a tough game vs Mizzou State tonight, although as previously mentioned, we don't want to see them lose.

They have a really good shot in the AP, even if UNC wins.

That being said, I hate rankings, but it would be cool to see.

If they do it, just don't let it get to their heads. I'm already worried about them looking past Lafayette toward UNI. Being ranked makes it all the tougher.

Absolute worst case scenario is that only Michigan and Indiana are gone. Kansas is in, but there's nobody else to give that other spot to besides us.

...unless seton hall wins tonight. you must remember, though, that voters dont act in unison and therefore their actions are not as easily predictable as one would like. some of them just wont rank a low-major like us regardless of our play. others have had us in their top 25s nearly all season.

i fully expect us to be on that list on monday. however, i would not be at all shocked if we arent. much stranger things have happened, especially to teams many people refuse to respect.

The Michigan and Indiana points/votes that don't go to us will go to teams already above us, which still puts us in, if only by default.

True about SHU. I think voters would give them a major boost for knocking off #1, should they do it.

Well...SHU is getting thumped, so we don't have to worry about that.

UNI is down 4 with 12 minutes left...That would seal the deal for the Top 25, but would obviously have some other negative implications.

Well, at least Seton Hall won't jump over us. They're losing at home to UConn by 39 points with 10 minutes left. The only excitement is whether they can match their Duke 53 point loss. This performance is also good for the Bison in that Seton Hall could be a bubble team come tournament time.

Anyone else just see halftime of the Zags-Stanford game? They actually gave the BU-HC score and talked about BU's strong veteran play. It was one of only 2 non-25 games they discussed if I am not mistaken...It is a good sign to start getting that recognition. Maybe it is their way of preparing for our admission into the Top 25!

Well, I have mixed emotions, but UNI just lost 66-63 to Missouri State.

The good news is that there should be little drama in the AP poll...BUCKNELL IS IN!!!!!!! But then again, weirder things have happened...

The bad news is that UNI will no longer be ranked when we play them, and this game will wind up slightly hurting our RPI...

I do not think this will drop UNI below us in RPI. What it WILL do, if we get into the top 25 and they drop as they surely will, is fire them up for us all the more.

No, UNI will stay above us in the RPI, but they will fall a little, which will in turn make our RPI rise a little less than it would have following the UNI game.

UNI only dropped to 19th in the RPI with the loss, so playing them will still certainly help our RPI.

BU actually moved up 4 spots overnight to 38.

Hard to believe some here are "booking" a top 25 ranking this week. How great a season is this?!

Alas, I don't see it happening. Not Monday, at least. PL bias + 2 thumpings on national TV -- the only times most of the voters have since this great team play this year -- does not = top 25 this week. Beating Lafayette and UNI, however, probably changes our calculations insofar as the AP is concerned. Not sure we'd go top 25 in the coaches poll EVER.

Go Bison!

I'm gunna disagree. With two losses, one of which was a bad loss for each of them, Indiana and Michigan are going to take a major hurting. UNI is definitely gone with a home loss. Kansas is definitely in. Who else is going to go into the top 25 then? I could see LSU since they only lost to Florida this week. But who else?

One other thing is that UNI losing may shift the majority of UNI votes to us. If pollsters were willing to let them in the top 25, they will just shift their token mid-major vote to us.

If Miami beats UNC, that is even going to give UNC a hurting in the polls.

I think the way ESPN went out of the way to discuss the BU-HC game last night is a sign that they are going to have to start commenting on our games b\c we will be in the top 25.

Ya know what will be interesting...Most of these websites (CNNSI, ESPN, CBS, foxsports, etc) do live gametrackers for all top 25 games only. If we get in, I guess that means they will have to send some low man on the totem poll to Easton on Wednesday, since no "naitonal" media folk will be there (No, CSTV is not national media in my mind).

One more thing...Any clue how high Flannery has us in the coaches poll or how high Feinstein has us in the AP? Knowing Feinstein, he probbly has us in the top 10 lol

Also, Feinstein's father unfortunately passed away this weekend. Any chance he won't submit a ballot this week?

I see that more of a plug for the "marquee matchup" next Saturday, and maybe a little push from ESPN to get us more votes because more people will watch a ranked team next week and UNI is probably out.

I'll bet both UNI and Bucknell will be getting votes but just out of the top 25 tomorrow. I do think however that the winner of the game on Saturday, assuming both teams take care of business during the week, will move into the Top 25 next week.

an updated list of losses:

7 florida lost once
9 west virginia lost once
10 illinois lost once
12 michigan st lost once
13 ucla lost once
15 georgetown lost once
16 north carolina st lost once
18 iowa lost once
22 michigan lost TWICE
23 north carolina lost once
24 indiana lost TWICE
25 northern iowa lost once

26 lsu lost once
29 uab lost once
30 creighton lost once
31 wichita st lost once
32 seton hall lost once
33 colorado lost once
34 maryland lost once
36 marquette lost once

as is now evident, absolutely nobody behind us made a move this week. nevada is next at 35th with 16 votes and california is 37th with 14. neither of these teams is begging to be ranked.

that leaves north carolina, lsu, kansas and bucknell fighting it out for four spots in the polls. most will agree that kansas is definitely in. im not sure if i like our chances against north carolina, but bucknell v. lsu is a totally different story. but, of course, it doesnt matter. i dont think anyone here cares whether we are 24th or 25th.

edited: missed marquettes loss to douby and company today. also edited because this math major cant count to four.

Actually, it is NC, LSU, Kansas, and Bucknell fighting it out for four spots. UNC was already in. Therefore, there spot is technically being fought for. The only way Bucknell doesn't get in is if UNI, Indiana, or Michigan doesn't get bumped or if the pollsters shoot Wisconsin all the way back up
