The women get back to action at 11:30 am today at home against Drexel.
Video: https://www.espn.com/watch?id=7637a220-11c 8-4cca-9...
Stats: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=27680...
Probable Starters: Grasela, Padilla, Sterba, Suttle, Parker
Penn is 7-1 with the best start in team history. They are ranked #9 in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25. As of 12/18, they have an RPI of 95, which is 3rd best in the Ivy League (Princeton is #10 and Yale is #64).
Drexel is 6-4 and ranked #16 in the College Insider poll. They have an RPI of 63 at the NCAA site.
Both teams faced St. Joes's with each winning by 10. Both defeated La Salle with Penn winning by 15 and Drexel winning by 38.
Both teams hold opponents to low numbers, but Penn has the better defense. They also have a significantly better offense this year.
Drexel is giving up almost 50% from 2, so hopefully Parker can put up some points. She has only scored 29 points over the last 5 games, after scoring 54 in the first three).
After today's game, they only have two games (12/31 at Hawaii, 1/2 at Chaminade) before facing Princeton at home on 1/11.

Some sloppy play and offensive fouls lost the double digit lead. This is one they must finish.

I am stunned Mike is keeping them in this Zone. Guess they are afraid of the big, but this just isn't working. 2:10 left and it's 51-49.

Crawford hits both FTs with 10 seconds left to make it 53-49 and the Quakers hold on for the win!
It wasn't pretty, but a solid win against a tough defensive team.
I'll try to post stats in a little while.

Gritty come back win after a slow start, so good stuff for the women's team!
One Q I have here for those that follow the team closer - Coach McLaughlin is REALLY good and we're lucky to have him, but I'm wondering why I feel like our non-conf schedule besides Big 5 (and Big 5 is weaker on women's side) is always fairly poor?
When I have followed along over the last few years Princeton and others seem to play higher competition. Those who follow closer can correct me, but that's something I would like to see improved moving forward.
Also wondering what's up with Parker? Seems her numbers really fell off from start of season and doesn't seem she is having as big an offensive impact?

I wondered the same thing about Parker. One thing that I've noticed is that Emily Anderson is playing more this year and she's doing well. Matured a lot. Gained confidence. She's an asset on the court although obviously is not Parker.

McLaughlin told the media (including me) after today's game that "she's a little banged up, we'll leave it at that."
Though I'd also say the offense is much more guard-oriented than it's been the last few years when they had Stipanovich and Nwokedi or Nwokedi and Parker.
