Gotta think this is a capacity issue. Not used to having more than 12 people tapping their stream.

Martz has been one of the better outside shooters on the team, period.

The question is to what extent he can assist defensively in the interior.

So far he's seemed pretty willing to stick his nose in there. He needs to get a bit stronger. He could be a beastly small ball 4 if he can play at 220-225.

Martz is a freaking machine. Could wake him up in the middle of the night and he'd nail 3's blindfolded.

What conclusion do we draw from Steve Donahue's absolute refusal to play Lorca-Lloyd in any meaningful minutes?

There must be something MLL isn't getting about the system. My guess is it's probably on the offensive end.

He (Martz) is one of those guys who's tailor-made for Donahue's system. He might not be as successful elsewhere, but he's like a shark in water on this team. This is not meant to be faint praise. Knowing how to position yourself for success is a skill in itself.

MLL just got a garbage-time dunk. I'm going to call that progress.

MLL sighting.

Other than steal minutes from Simmons, when is he going to get minutes? Spacing on both ends are going to be rough with Brodeur.

You would hope that his practice performance would have been good enough to earn him minutes in some of the nonconference games, but as we can see, that didn't happen.

I agree about the spacing. My suspicion is that MLL hasn't completely figured out what he needs to do in order to play successfully at the high post, and if he's going to be on the floor with AJ, they'd have to be able to interchange seamlessly between high post and low post. So far, not even Simmons has done anything more than play backup minutes. We're just not playing two bigs at all.

And that's mostly OK because Martz and Monroe have shown they can mix it up inside.

It will be a challenge to play with Yale or Harvard with a short lineup though.

Yale is really hanging tough tonight. Not looking forward to playing them--they look like the Ivy favorites as of now.

Giving up that much size to Harvard and Yale has been my worry since the start of the season. From what I've seen so far, Harvard is deeper than Yale, and I think that in the aggregate, our guards are better than Yale's. Either way, we're going to have to play physically to match up with both opponents, and the guards are going to have to hit the boards. Betley, Monroe and Martz will have to produce, rebounding-wise.

See you guys in Philly on Saturday.
