I was stunned to see that our overall record against Marist is 1 and 6. Hopefully playing them at home will make a difference.

We played well enough in the second half to overcome Marist's one-point lead at halftime, and win going away at Levien. However, Pomeroy has Marist ranked 344th out of 355 teams in the U.SA. so I guess we can't get too excited about what happened. Still, it was nice to see Luke Bolster and Joseph Smoyers make major contributions to the W, even though the bad news continues to grow--according to the announcer, Lance Meadow, freshman Jack Forest and Maka Ellis couldn't play because the former had an eye injury and the latter was somewhat beaten up. So nary a freshman scored a point today which has to be very embarrassing to the coaching staff which recruited the class.. Fortunately, Engles' received 8 points from Boster, the non-recruited junior walk-on son of our outstanding long-time swimming coach. Jim Engles was a very lucky man today.

We won, despite having 4 of our better players in civies (Stefanini, Ellis, Turner and Forrest), because we played good D and because we demonstrated poise when our best player, Smith, was double and triple teamed. As most even moderately informed basketball watchers would confirm, those are due to good coaching

I do not think Jim Engles is a bad coach. Quite the contrary. My issue is his recruiting chops. He does a good job with our roster, to be sure.
