I'm going to assume Jalen Warley is Carlin's son.

For what it’s worth, Andrew Laczkowski and Clark Slajchert are both having strong senior seasons and their teams are playing well. Both have been nominated for McDonalds AA Game (along with 900 other kids of course).

A few other notes:
- Clark Slajchert is averaging more than 30 points, 7 assists and 2.6 steals per game.
- He also has a chance to become Ventura County’s all time leading scorer.

I'm going to assume Jalen Warley is Carlin's son.
I think Jalen is Jason's son, Carlin's older brother and teammate at St. Joe's. I knew Jason a little bit back in the late 90s when he was a kindergarten teacher and coach at Friends Central. Nice guy who really loved the kids.
I didn't get a chance to see Jalen or TJ play this year since my school played Westtown on the road - and lost by about 50. Westtown will come into our gym next year, but TJ will already be a Quaker. It will probably be a lot like when ANC and Raheem Christmas pummeled us a decade ago or when Friends Central and Amile Jefferson did the same more recently.

A couple of updates on our current class of 2020:
TJ Berger
- He was named MVP of Kevin Durant MLK Classic by leading Westtown with 19 points (6/9 from 3) in their upset win of then #2 team in the country on Monday (and both teams were stacked with high level kids). Added bonus is that you can watch this on ESPN apps if you have right subscription. I watched replay and he was listed by ESPN as 6’4â€. Looks like shooting guard in truest sense of the word as he really scores majority of points from outside. Was secondary ball handler and seemed to have a solid handle. Very quick release on his shot.
- Looks like he followed that up with a career high 35 points on 11?! 3 pointers in a blowout win on Weds.
Andrew Laczkowski
- In the Dallas Fort Worth area, as of a few days ago he was ranked 8th in scoring (20.8), 3rd in rebounding (10.9), 17th in assists (4.2), 7th at 3’s made per game (3.4). Can see stats here: https://www.dallasnews.com/high-school-sports/ba sk...
- Saw him listed at 6’7†somewhere.
- Unfortunately it looks like he might be injured as he didn’t play today and maybe not Weds. Don’t know more than that.
Clark Slajchert
-Had 6 three pointers made tonight, which puts him at 272 and breaks the previous Ventura county CA record of 268 held by Joe Soto.
-Most recent game had 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists.
-Haven’t gotten to see him play but he gets A LOT of assists.

Like others, I’m disappointed we have yet to attract a big man in this class; however, it occurs to me that this class just may be better than we thought a couple of months ago. I can’t say I’m not influenced by the number of assigned stars by internet services, but I’ve watched Ivy basketball long enough to understand that they are often not great predictors. This may be especially true when recruited by a coach who is in love with the 3 point shot. And - as much as people complain about the Penn defense, many of us understand that we could have won the last three games had we put the ball in the basket
Our three incoming recruits all look like that is a strength.

Are all 3 of these guys coming to Penn? I know that Berger is but wasn't sure about the other two.

Clark Slajchert became the 2nd leading scorer in Ventura County high school history, but he only scored 34 points last night.

6'0 and maybe 150 makes you wonder if he can hold up at this level. Hell at least Charlie Copp was 170ish. That and Ventura is not exactly a hot bed of basketball. But man the more I see of this kid it's obvious he can flat out play.

Iverson was a GREAT athlete--starting QB on a good high school football team. Incredibly fast and incredibly tough.

If anyone wants to get a glimpse of TJ Berger, his Westtown Moose team will be playing in the Friends Schools League championship game against ANC at LaSalle's Gola Arena in the nightcap of the FSL championship doubleheader tomorrow evening. I will already be there for the girls title game at 5:30 when #1 seed, undefeated Moorestown Friends will take on the Westtown girls. The ESPN+ app will make it possible to watch the Penn-Columbia game on replay later in the evening.
