It was a Bucknell home game. So, why did the Loyola announcers call the game on PL TV?
New season, new team, new dream . . .

Since no one else is inclined to say so, I will. Nice win. Especially considering this is the worst-coached, least talented team in the last 20 years.

Avi drove Kostecka crazy in H2...2 shots he made were 9.5 dod...kudos to Avi. I expected Loyola to be much improved this year but they’re missing two key cogs. We may be the only team in D1,2 & 3 that scripts personnel in H1. Its bizarre to be up 10-7 and then sub out b4/after the 16:00 m media TO and then go down 16-10. Followed by the second and third pre-programmed 2nd & 3rd wave. PL is so weak we’re getting away with it but it doesn’t work on the road or against better teams. Don’t really understand it. AR really struggled. Turned the game off with 4 minutes...couldn’t stand the tattooed men in underwear trying to kill each other and the 400+ fat guy jumping on your mans neck one more time. @Army likely to be very competitive and stubbornly staying with the H1 strategy may be quite risky. Nice to see Rhodes getting a little more confidence. Has to learn not to chase the perimeter too far on non-shooters because he doesn’t have foot speed to stop the dribble drive as well as Spear. He’ll learn not to lose his man and did great kid on Dike in H1. We have to put in some wrinkles for Colgate. Doubling down and on selective switches gave them problems until they spread us. Can’t play them 90’ feet with 3’s young in the shot clock and 100% MTM switching 1-5 imho. Not sure we can do the same with BU as well although we have traditionally played well at Case

I didn’t get subbing out two starters before the 17:00 mark....playing basically your entire roster in the first half and then some of those that did well (Rhodes) see no time in second half is odd. I wonder what the success rate is for the play where the trailing big man gets the ball and either pumps up a 3 or tries to fake and drive. It is a staple in Bucknell’s offense but I can’t recall it working very often, if at all.

Bucknell shot 22-for-30 on two-pointers for the game... that's more than 70%.

It wasn’t the Loyola announcers. This was one of the patriot league games produced by Stadium, using their announcers. The play by play man was a guy who graduated from Fordham a few years ago. The color man was Craig Esherick, who was the Georgetown head coach a number of years ago after John Thompson stepped down.

I did not listen to this broadcast. However in general I have found the stadium announcers to not be well prepared. Often you hear a lot of mistakes and little insight. I haven’t seen anything that tells me the Stadium broadcast or I haven’t seen anything that tells me the Stadium broadcast or any better than normal patriot league network broadcasts are any better than normal patriot league network broadcasts.

I watched parts of the game today and you are correct 137. Most PL announcers are as good or better and far more knowledgeable about the players and the league. The play-by-play guy has announced for the past few years on the PL track championships, a sport that he clearly knows even less about than basketball. Even after doing the broadcast a few time he still doesn't understand the most fundamental things, like staggered starts.

Still, he's not Birdsong. That's a huge plus.

Not that everyone agrees, of course...

Doug is so annoying to me. I love him. He’s passionate, knowledgeable, and awful all at the same time.
