Opens Princeton -3 1/2

The "Big Red Team" has a home Ivy League victory vs Columbia. Otherwise, they've won only 1 other D1 game this season.

In the two contests last season against Cornell, Schwieger and Aririguzoh each led the way, with Schwieger going for 23 at home and Aririguzoh going for 20 in Ithaca. I'd expect the Tigers game plan to be to get those 2 involved early and often tomorrow night on the offensive end. Llewellyn also should have an athletic advantage over all of their guards besides McBride, so he should have opportunities to get to the rim. I think matchup wise this should look similar to Penn in trying to find those 1 on 1 matchups and exploiting them. I'd expect Earl to throw a lot of different looks defensively, including double teaming the post and some zones. Cornell's defense has been poor this season, so hopefully this is a game where open shots should come.

On the defensive end, similar to the Dartmouth game this one will all be about paying attention to the details of the scouting report. At 6-8 Boeheim is their primary offensive option. I'm interested to see who starts on Boeheim, I actually think it might be Evbuomwan. McBride is a quick, good passing guard who can hit the mid range pull up. Based on what's been said from the coaching staff about their confidence in Wright's defense lately, I think he might start on McBride while Llewellyn starts on the 6-1 Knapp who is primarily a shooter. That leaves Schwieger on Voss (who barely plays really) and RA on Warren.

Talent-wise, the Tigers should be in a good spot here, but wins on the road are tough, and Earl usually coaches a good game against the Tigers. But without Matt Morgan, this is his least talented team at Cornell, and looking at their box scores it seems like he's been searching for anyone on the roster to produce, and not finding much luck yet.

The O/U is 134 1/2 in snowy Ithaca.

There goes my Friday night entertainment (sad, isn't it?).

Has the team already departed for Ithaca, or do they stay home and drive to NYC tomorrow?

They still have to get to Ithaca---Princeton-Cornel l is Sat at 2. What's surprising is how infrequently this happens given that Cornell is in the snow belt.

Your team normally would have gone up to Ithaca last night.

If they are there, it's ridiculous not to play the games. Hell, we played the games at Yale and Brown (I called them on XPN) right after the Great Snowstorm of 1978. It has to be that the roads are unsafe (in '78, the team took Amtrak---can't do that in Ithaca)

I see that Princeton vs Cornell is scheduled for 2pm. 14 inches of snow thru midnight in Ithaca today.
If Princeton isn't already on the way, how do you play at 2pm tomorrow?

Earlier this morning, Cornell cancelled classes, but the university remained open.

Later, the school's Emergency Management group posted that the entire university would close at noon. The post mentioned that numerous roads are closed in the Ithaca area and Tompkins County. City bus (TCAT) service is suspended, as well.

Here's a weather alert from a few hours ago:

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST
TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8
inches, resulting in storm total snowfall accumulations of 10 to
14 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Chenango, Northern Oneida, Cortland, Tompkins,
Onondaga, Madison, Southern Oneida, Seneca and Southern Cayuga
counties.

* WHEN...Heavy snow with snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour
will continue through early this afternoon. The snow will become
light by mid afternoon and continue through the evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult. Blowing snow will
significantly reduce visibility through evening. The combination
of winds, with weight of new snow and ice, will lead to
scattered power outages.

They cancelled all events when they closed campus. Imagine being the Michigan men’s tennis team which is there.

Men’s hockey vs. Colgate & women’s polo vs. Baltimore also postponed.

Mitch had mentioned on the radio show that they were going to Ithaca on Thursday.

Reunion weekend for the great 2009 Cornell team so Cornell should be psyched to play this weekend games.

It is understandable that Cornell has extra challenges when recruiting based on weather.

And as a courtesy, Pennsylvania vs Columbia in rainy NYC cancelled as well.

Snowflakes.

We had planned part of my kids birthday for the Columbia-Princeton game Saturday night. We wound up switching to the Columbia Penn game at 2pm on Saturday, lucky for us, but yeah, I suppose Columbia and Penn could have played tonight and then went to Cornell on Sunday.

Pretty sure the league arranged this, but I doubt Coach Henderson would have really wanted to play tomorrow afternoon, get on a bus for four hours to arrive in NYC around 9-10 PM, and then play another road game 16 hours later against a team sleeping in their own beds with an extra day of rest.

Snow in Ithaca? You'd kind of think there was no level of blizzard sufficient to shut them down. PU had already traveled there--why not just play it as scheduled today?

They had to switch both games to be fair to all teams. Every team has to do the Columbia/Cornell back to back. If they staggered this weekends games it wouldn't have been fair to the travel pairs nor the other teams who won't play these games with a day rest in middle.

That's nuts. Act of God and all that. Everybody knows your homework isn't due on a snow day. The small advantage of a one-day gap seems a lot less unreasonable than tossing the whole schedule into turmoil.

How can you even imagine that they care about "fair".
They play the most important games of the year on someone's home court.
