Of the five contenders, Harvard has the easiest schedule with six home games and four games against the C's. Pomeroy has them going 6-2.

Penn and Princeton have four home and four away. Pomeroy has them both going 4-4.

Brown and Yale have 6 road games against 2 home games. Pomeroy has Yale going 6-2 and Brown going 3-5.

That leaves have Penn playing Yale and Princeton playing Harvard in the tournament.

Of course, if Penn wins out they are national champions. If the Flyers, Eagles, Sixers and Phillies win out they are world champions.

It's a shame about Ryan B's injuries the last two years. Both have hurt this year's chances, although now Steve will have to give the frosh more time. It sure worked today.

I always thought that Devon would surprise as soon as I saw his quickness. He is not the classic point guard, but no Penn player has ever run the open court better than he. A good Philly guard! He seems to be amping it up as his career winds down. Good for him - and for us!

I like Dev a lot, but I'll take Ibby in the open court

Goodman is much better than Ibby in breaking down opponents one on one and slicing to the basket. Ibby was the best ever on Penn (2nd to Ira Bowman) at stripping his man and going the length of the court for an uncontested layup.

The only one I have seen as good as Goodman in getting to the basket is Bobby Willis.

If you could start your team with just one of them, which would you pick? I never saw Willis play.

A month ago, I would have said the Goodman is a hair quicker, but Willis was the significantly better player.

But as we have seen recently, Dev at his best is pretty darn good.

It's hard to compare since Willis performed on a much bigger stage, and was really good against national level competition.

I'd take Ibby over Dev against national level competition.

Beat Brown, Go Quakers.

And I saw Ibby play at Princeton. Perfect night to see, an ice storm struck so few came. Took my son and we sat on the floor- got to give high fives to both team's players before and at half-so fun. Both are fun players to watch- Ibby played in Europe-very quick.

Quickness yes, speed no. Goodman is probably the fastest player in the League and is faster than was Ibby. Not knocking Ibby--he was a better all around player.

But yes, Bobby willis was better still. And Jerome was the best guard we ever had (worst coach, but that's a different category).

It's easy to get nostalgic about your (our) own era, but Willis was not as fast as Dev. And he didn't do such a great job getting to the basket against Gminski.

33:35 mark. Watch the move Jerome puts on future NBA guard Erick Strickland.

I was wondering when someone would talk about Jerome. Let's not forget Maloney and Rosen. They are also in the Pantheon.

Your memory is failing---2 of those 3 rejections were Crowley...1 was Willis.

It's a bit hard to compare because everyone on that team from 77- 79 ran the court and there were so many guards (Greene, Willis, Crowley, Salters, in 77, Lonetto and in 79, Hall and Reynolds) that no one got more than 20-25 minutes playing time.

I've never seen a speedier Quaker than Dev. He's our version of Alan Iverson.

My memory is fine. I know it was Crowley twice and Willis once, but he was not as fast as Dev. Ibby may have been, but I can't think of anyone else including Bowman.

That brings up a memory from '79. I saw Bobby put an open court move on Temple's Walt Montford that left Montford trying to figure out where his uniform had disappeared to.

Baseline to baseline, Goodman is the quickest.

Well, Walt Montford had the quickness and agility of a mountain. He wasn't called the Mountain Man for nuthin'.

Very true. Still, it was astounding to watch him attempt to react to Willis' move.
