Remarkably, this will only be our third home game in the last two months. This *should* be a get-right spot after the terrible end to last week — Kenpom has us favored by 14 — but it's been so long since we've won anything other than a nail-biter that I'm worried we're in for another one. The UMass and GW games were the last time this team didn't play to the level of its opponents.
Some of the big questions this week are:
1. Can Lewis get back on track? Last week was probably the worst one of his career. Atkinson badly outplayed him last Friday, and then he missed a wide open layup, a dunk, and had four turnovers on Saturday. Without Aiken, we really need him to be a threat in the post.
2. Can Baker keep this up? Last week was probably the best one of his career, notwithstanding the last play against Brown. He made his threes, he didn't turn it over, and was getting steals, rebounds, and blocks. He's been a model of inconsistency for us — he seems to lose confidence very quickly — so I'd be shocked if he stays anywhere near this level. But if he can...
3. Can we get out in transition more? When we're not knocking down threes, scoring in the half court can be a struggle without Bryce. We did a great job in the first half against Yale getting easy buckets on the break, but didn't really have a chance to do that against Brown because of all the fouls.
Can't afford to drop either of these games.

I fear we play to the level of our opponents. Amaker's teams have had a habit of doing so your years.
Playing Maryland (#8) and Howard (#348) even for most of those games shouldn't happen.
OT's vs Columbia and losses vs Cornell over the past few years make me uncomfortable.
This squad needs to play tough for 80 minutes and move on.

Making the trip up for CC weekend. Have to hope that home court is the cure.
Lewis is key. Not enough offensive threats without Towns, Aiken and Lewis at his best. Got the feeling he got a little banged up at PP.
Need the good Ledlum and a big game by Kirkwood. Fire and Ice.

Gotta admit, it was entertaining vs Columbia last year. Hopefully we got the nail biters out of the way the past two weekends.
Happy VD day to Mrs 84grad. Assume RC instead of Charlie’s tonight!

Why don't they give Kirkwood more of a green light? Against Penn, he took virtually no shots until the last minutes and overtime and was very hard to stop. With Aiken out, he would seem to be the one who has to step up

He’s been stepping up at the end of games. He’s not really a high volume shooter and tends to turn the ball over when he forces things. It’s Haskett’s three point shooting that has been missing.

As mobrien has pointed out, Kirkwood should be posted inside. Very tough to stop with his size and strength and limits the amount of dribbles which gets him into trouble. I would also like to get him the ball at the free throw line and let him use his terrific passing ability.

2 fouls on Kirkwood. Ledlum should have a big game. Lots of mismatches.
