Pleasantly surprised to see Aririguzoh on the first team. Most on this board saw him as HM or 2nd team.
Coaches must see something less obvious to us civilians.
I guess his numbers alone do not reflect his impact.

There was a tie in the voting which expanded the 1st team to 6 members from 5. Only Atkinson and AJ were unanimous selections. Someone on that 1st team was very close to 2nd team.

Aririguzoh worked real hard at improving his game from what I've heard. Glad to see it rewarded.
Surprised Smith wasn't a first teamer.

Since the order of the list isn't alphabetical, I'm tempted to think that it's in order of votes received, which might give a clue.

I would think that's a fair conclusion

Also pleasantly surprised to see Aririguzoh get the nod. He did dictate a lot of the strategy even in games where he didn't score much, opening up space on the wings as nervous help-defenders feared moving to far from the lane.
Having seen Gabidon's play a few times, I'm also pleasantly surprised that he received his due. He was one of those "bad penny" type of players for an opposing fan--always turning up at the wrong time to screw up what your team was doing.

Correct. Also means Smith was last on the second team.

I totally disagree with Gabbidon vs Bassey. This was Jones getting his way. Gabbidon is good, but Bassey was a disruptor in almost every game and Harvard is probably not an ILT team without him. To be fair, Harvard is probably the IL champion without Gabbidon as he did make some key plays for Yale's zombie win over Penn.

I was even surprised that he was Jones’ nominee (thought it would be Bruner as a senior). Seems odd that Bassey didn’t get recognized.
I do think that Amaker’s inconsistent lineups (and the injuries) hurt Harvard some at award time. Jones hardly ever deviates from his basic rotation of 8 guys. You know what everybody’s role is. Amaker plays drastically different lineups at times, and sometimes those unexpected changes result in wins. But they make it hard to pinpoint guys that did it all year.

Bassey also would have been very deserving, obviously. My comment about pleasant surprise was mostly about feeling Gabidon was under-appreciated .
