Great effort by the Bears after a very disappointing weekend. Still in it.

Great games from all who played. Hunsaker, Gainey, Friday And Choh in particular. Game ball to the Coaching and scouting. Mitchell and Anderson were awesome as well. Defense won the game.

It really was a good win. Offense still struggles but this was as intense a defensive performance as I’ve seen. Good for them they’ve beaten Harvard 3x in a row.
I don’t think I would have put Anderson on your list. He was 4-17 from the field and is just off his game. In his last four he’s shooting under 25 pct. not the way you want to finish your career.

Will Howard get time tonight? Was he out last night due to injury or due to matchups?

Congrats, gritty win. To me, Hunsaker was the difference

I thought Gainey and Mitchell were the difference on D. Mitchell, like Bassey can defend all positions which probably explains why Howard didn't play.

Neither team scored easily. Hunsaker’s 5 early(ish) 3’s were big points

Brow came up big this weekend. Just didn’t get the break it needed.
This league is crazy.
Yale sweeps Brown
Brown sweeps Harvard
Harvard sweeps Yale

Not to mention Princeton sweeps Penn but gets swept by Cornell. Weird.

Haha apparently so. Then again it isn’t just the Ivy League... it’s ALL of the NCAA leagues this year. So many teams have so many losses. Going to be a really interesting couple weeks!

Injuries created parity as Harvard & Penn were preseason favorites. Columbia was just ... unfortunate as was Dartmouth. Cornell was supposed to be the outlier.
Yale has stayed healthy and Princeton has absorbed some less critical losses.
I commented long ago that this would create a competitive scrum.

It really was. Many good games this season, with relatively few blowouts. Yale was (close to) a top 50 team, and they lost three league games. When has that ever happened?

Plus they pulled out miracle games against Penn at home and Cornell on the road. This easily could have been a 4-5 way tie.

I can't wait until next preseason when all on these boards say the loss of Hunsaker and Anderson will put us in 8th place.

Hmm, you’ll still have Choh and Gainey. Columbia without Smith, but with Stefanini back, will probably be down there.

They’ll also have Noah Merin the transfer. Heard he’s the real deal.

Bears will go from a senior backcourt to a Soph. backcourt of Friday and Cowan. Although I also heard some good things of Meren, who will enter as a Jr. with 2 years left. Starting 5 c/b Friday, Cowan, Choh, Mitchell, Gainey. That's a very good defensive group. Meren and recruit Taylor from Mt. Herman will bolster the backcourt and add offense. Some of the present frontcourt bench may develop during the offseason. But Martin would be very fortunate to land a 6-9 240 type of recruit to add size and strength to compliment Gainey. Nadur (6-8) from Cushing Academy, and offered by URI, should help. But true Bigs have been a rare commodity for the Bears over the years. Perhaps a new gym/facility would lure one to the East Side.
It's hard to believe the Pitz turned 31 years old in 2020. I recall the dedication, when the late great sports writer Frank Deford spoke. Marvel Gym was home from 1927 to 1988. We shouldn't wait 61 years to replace the Pitz. The time is right. We have an excellent coach who is also an alum. Also, Brown and the Ivies have made entrance to the league much less costly, even virtually free, for many lower and middle class kids the league had no chance of landing years ago. I don't see that ever reverting. The Green created at the front of the athletic complex is nice. But that real estate is much too valuable. Build a 3200 seat basketball facility, market the men's and women's teams properly and aggressively, and provide a facility that will put us on par with the top teams in the league. Time to think big and make a bold move. And add some parking, as well. It's getting tougher on the older folks to get to a game.

I agree that the Pitz doesn't quite have the juice given its layout, and it doesn't have the character that some of the older arenas in the league have. Honestly, for me the biggest issue is the fact that the seating doesn't go high enough up the walls, making it feel more like nice HS gym than D1 college arena.
But it was built to accommodate a lot of different needs for the campus, and it's still a highly functional facility. I just can't imagine that they'll make material changes there.
If they make changes, they need to add upgrades. Fancy video scoreboard. Adding dedicated practice courts and other related facilities. These things make a difference to recruits.
