Thanks. That was my freshman year and my initiation to Big 5 ball. I was hooked for life.

That one sequence where LaSalle got 4 shots off in one possession looked all too familiar.

Under current rules, the offensive foul would negate the goaltend, correct?

I believe you are correct on that. I was a high school junior. Went to Catholic School so I was always the only one there rooting for Penn. Stefanski never shot the ball because he could not shoot. I believe that was his only field goal of the game.

I was one year away from Penn at this point, but my brother was there and I went to a couple of games at the Palestra this year. That team might have gotten to the Final Four the following year had it not been for the knee injury to Engles, who was really coming into his own. But just look at the intensity of the students at those games. Hell, just look at the number of students at those games. Penn was a very different place then.

Watched the '94 thrashing of Nebraska in the NCAA tournament last night. I'd forgotten just how good Barry Pierce was.

Piatkowski of Nebraska had a good NBA career.

He did. He and Pierce had quite the battle going in that game.

Hadn't seen this before. Second half is better than nothing.

Jim Haney doing the honors. He was the star recruit over Wohl and Bilsky but never really got over the knee injuries.

I was a couple days short of being 13--watched on the small tv in my bedroom. They put on a clinic that second half. Kind of hard to watch in some ways knowing what happened two months later but still some great memories.

Was that great to see again! So many things! My favorite referee team of Steve Honzo and Hal Grossman. The dribbling by Bilsky and Wohl. Morse with what would be threes today and Jim Wolf rebounding and playing great defense on Howard Porter. That's what the game two months later in Raleigh should have looked like - instead, we got the darkest day in Penn BBall history. Even now, 49 years later, I can't believe that it happened as it did. Thanks for posting!

Never saw this game. They hung in there. Lots of the first half is missing due to the TV feed cutting into the Austin Peay upset over Illinois.

I was in a nearly deserted High Rise North during Spring Break for this one.

We don't talk enough about Perry Bromwell on this board. I got to see him lead the team to 2 NCAA appearances. Bromwell, Pitts, Stovall--we had some athletes on this squad, and Lefko was, well, Lefko but very effective.

Too bad Kenny Smith went bonkers in the 2nd half. This is one fun first half of basketball to view. The complete game exists somewhere, too.
