And it doesn’t help young kickers and punters that NFL careers at these positions can be 15-20 years.
Yes. To your point, one of the kickers on a current practice squad is Mike Nugent, who was born early in 1982. Under the old practice squad rules, only players in their first few seasons were eligible. But that has changed dramatically now.

An interesting commitment tonight:
Ethan Grady, a 6-4 205 lb QB who is playing this year for Colorado power Valor Christian. Transferred there from Santa Monica after CA canceled football. In his first year as a starter in 2019, he completed over 70% (135-192) of his passes, throwing 21 TDs vs 9 INT while averaging 16.8 yards per completion in only 8 games. Almost never ran. Had offers from San Jose, Northern Arizona, San Diego, and Valpo. Took the SAT recently for the first time and got a 1330.
QB Ethan Grady is ripping it for St. Monica
- - - - -
Also the Bison got a commitment a few days ago from Mason Taylor, a 6-2 175 lb CB from Adelanto CA, a high desert town about 85 miles northeast of L.A.

Bison got a commitment at RB: Paul Neel, a 5-10 187 lb RB from NC power Charlotte Catholic. Didn't play in the fall due to covid, but in 2019 he gained 1975 yards on 272 carries, with 28 TD's. Team won three straight 3A state titles his first three years. He had offers from Dayton, Presbyterian, Marist, Valpo, Drake, Butler, and Morehead State.

The Bison now have 15 reported commitments. Haven't seen any decommitment news. Early signing period starts Wednesday. There will be more commitments in future months. The class currently consists of 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 2 TE, 2 OL, 2 DL, 2 LB, 3 DB, and 1 Kicker. Five of the 15 are from the PA/NJ area.
- Jack Barnes, a 6-3 225 lb OLB from Blair Academy in NJ. Had offers from Georgetown, Morehead, and maybe Fordham.
- Kyle Fontes 6-4 220 lb TE from Central York HS (PA). Team won its first 10 games this year before losing in the 6A championship game to PA #1 St. Joseph’s.
- Ethan Grady, a 6-4 215 lb QB from Santa Monica (CA).

- Grant Jones, a 6-6 295 lb OL from CT. Had offers from Sacred Heart and maybe Fordham.
- Nick Niemynski, a 6-1 180 lb kicker from Germantown Academy. Ranked as the #43 kicker in the nation by one kicking recruiting service. Made 23 of 24 kicks 55 yards and under in a summer kickers camp. Also good on kickoffs.
- Parker Menefee, a 6-5 230 lb TE from Ridge Point HS (TX), outside of Houston. Had offers from New Mexico, Lehigh, Lamar, Northwestern State, North Texas, Central Arkansas, Sam Houston, Prairie View, Incarnate Word. Made All-District as a junior. Also a recruited baseball pitcher
- Paul Neel, a 5-10 187 lb RB from Charlotte Catholic (NC). In 2019 he gained 1975 yards on 272 carries, with 28 TD's. Had offers from Dayton, Presbyterian, Marist, Valpo, Drake, Butler, and Morehead State.
- Will Ohler 6-4 225 lb DE from MA.
- Marques Owens 5-10 175 lb WR from the Atlanta area. Was all-region as a junior. Had offers from Navy, E. Michigan, So.Alabama, Lehigh, Lafayette, E. Kentucky, Bryant, LIU, Samford.

One more recent commitment:
Aneesh Vyah, a a 6-2 260 lb DL from Lakota West, one of the top HS teams in Ohio. Was 2nd team All-Ohio in Division 1, which is for the largest schools.
Had an interesting group of offers across a wide spectrum. PWO offers from Virginia, West Virginia, Cinci. D1 offers from Valpo, Dayton, Butler, and maybe Akron. Various D2 offers. And about a dozen D3 offers from top academic schools including U. of Chicago, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and Johns Hopkins.
His highlight video shows a lot of explosiveness in the pass rush: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9800621/5f5f7 7ffc119a...

Bison got two late commitments today:
1. Rushawn Baker, a 5-11 225 lb RB from Victor NY, south of Rochester. Very strong and very fast. Ran a 10.95 100 meters as a junior. Could be a nice find, as he only played five games as a junior due to a serious high ankle sprain and then played no games this year due to a covid shutdown. Combining his soph and junior years, he carried 173 times for 1252 yards (7.2 ypc) and 20 TD's. Had offers from Fordham, St. Francis, Bryant, and Sacred Heart.
2. Brad Jamison, 6-3 212 lb LB from Ocean City NJ. He doesn't have an active twitter account, so I have no idea about reported offers. His team was ranked 4th in South Jersey, a strong football area.

Bucknell press release on 17 signees:
Bucknell announces early signees
Looks like a solid class. Unfortunately two of the better-looking ones didn't sign:
- Parker Menefee, a 6-5 230 lb TE from Ridge Point HS (TX), outside of Houston. Had offers from New Mexico, Lehigh, Lamar, Northwestern State, North Texas, Central Arkansas, Sam Houston, Prairie View, Incarnate Word.
- Nick Ravalico, a 6-3 255 lb DL from Keller TX, north of Fort Worth. Offers from UMass, Penn, Brown, Georgetown, maybe Sam Houston. Impressive weight room stats: 365 lb bench, 455 lb deadlift, 475 lb squat, 315 lb clean.
Both of them still list themselves as Bucknell commits on their twitter pages, so there is a chance they may still sign during the regular signing period in seven weeks. Menefee might simply be taking some time to make his decision, as he got a late offer from Air Force two days ago. Needs to figure out his thoughts on the five year service commitment and the likelihood of having to go the the Air Force Prep School first. Current Bison star Simeon Page went that route, didn't like it, and quickly shifted over to Bucknell.

I think Bucknell Football is going to surprise in the next few years. Can you imagine if Menefee plays next year the trio of young Grady, Menefee, and Baker what we could do? Lots of W's. At any rate I can clearly envision a winning record next year perhaps on top. I will wager beers on this. Bucknell is back!

Another commitment today: Alex Smith, a 6-2 185 lb safety from a suburb of Charlotte NC. Did not play this fall due to covid restrictions.
One comment I meant to make earlier is that not all of these players are necessarily getting full scholarships. By PL rules, only 60 scholarships can be distributed among the full roster.

Tomorrow starts the regular signing period for football. The Bison have received a number of commitments over the past six weeks. Some are partial scholarship athletes. No doubt some walk-ons will be added, although they may not appear in the next press release.

Menefee flipped to Air Force
Yes, that seemed inevitable once he decommitted from Bucknell and took down his pinned tweet. He will likely be sent to the Air Force Prep School for a year. Maybe he won't like it - as was the case with Bison star Simeon Page - and decide Bucknell would be a better spot.

Bucknell Football adds seven to incoming freshmen
Added two OL, two safeties, two Te's, and one WR. Likely some walk-ons will be added over the next month or two.

Bison signee Rushawn Baker ran for 303 yards and 3 TD's on 14 carries - all in the first half - in an easy win over a 5-1 team in States today. NY football is not the strongest, but he looks like he could be good. 5-11, 225 lbs, and very good speed. For the season, he is averaging 10.8 yards per carry for an undefeated team.
