Its all arbitrary now anyways. Yes, a bad covid case will turn your organs into warm cottage cheese, but while we cancel two weeks of games others are still playing. There is no possible way now to contain the virus and one segment of society is being super careful (Bucknell), others are carrying on like nothing has happened-gathering, flying, etc. look at the protests in Russia today-tens of thousands with no masks. Thats just today. We had the College football celebrations in Alabama, Capitol riots, and thats just for starters. There is no rhyme or reason collectively on how to manage this so I guess we just have to wait out the madness.

So realistically how do these games get made up? The Colgate games being our only overnight travel are essentially mandated into 2/27 and 2/28. The Lehigh games go into midweek slots, presumably on separate weeks, sometime in February?
Scary thing is if we or any other school on the schedule has an additional disruption there's just not a lot of opportunity for recovering given the way the compressed calendar works.

I think the divisional games, such as Bucknell-Lehigh get top priority. Then the others. If the Bison got another series postponed with Lehigh or Lafayette, that would have to be made up the final week. If some of the others don't get made up, they can live with that.

Dear Bucknellians,
You may have seen media reports over the weekend announcing positive COVID-19 test results for two students associated with the Bison men’s and women’s basketball teams, and the related postponement of scheduled games against Colgate and Lehigh. Bucknell has since learned that these results were not, in fact, positive, but were incorrectly recorded as such by Genetworx, our COVID-19 test provider. Quality control processes in place at Genetworx caught the error. The two tests in question were re-run at Genetworx when the error in recording was discovered, and both samples were confirmed negative. The two students will be retested today as an extra precaution.
The men’s and women’s games scheduled for Jan. 30 and 31 against Lehigh will proceed. Additional information about athletics schedules can be found on the Bucknell Athletics website.
We remain confident in the accuracy of the COVID-19 tests administered by Genetworx, as well as the effectiveness of the health and safety protocol followed by our student-athletes and team support staff.
Sincerely,
Dr. Catherine O’Neil, M.D.

That’s good news! Too bad it was discovered after postponing games, but glad it was caught. And that’s also one of my past doctors!

Well that's something. Relieved for the coaches, players and staff.
Half surprised the "other thread" hasn't been bumped to blame the lab failure on Davis somehow.

Not that I think it would be a disaster if the CU games do not get made up, but why can’t they do it during the week, this week?

I doubt ND would want to play four games in six days, which would include a seven hour round trip bus ride to Hamilton. My guess is they will schedule it for the open weekend at the end of the year, but then not play if the games don’t mean anything.

This puts us in the odd situation of playing the same opponent in four consecutive games. I doubt that has ever happened, even back in the early days of Bucknell basketball.

Interesting point. They definitely have not ever had four consecutive games with the same opponent. Interestingly, the last time they played the same team twice in a row (before this year) was Navy in Muscala's senior year. By an improbable combination of circumstances, the Muscala teams played an opponent twice in a row each of his final three years. Navy, Navy, and Army.
