A rare bit of good news. Despite the earlier report from Meehan, ND says the entire team is healthy (knock on wood) and everyone has been practicing.

Funk playing backup point guard. ND not risking Deuce's defense with Lafayette's shooters? Or something else?

Meeks unstoppable. Rice stepped up when they started to double too. Decent minutes from Big Timms once Newman and Screen were in foul trouble.

20 more minutes of that please.

Didn't have EJ Stephens choking on two foul shots in crunch time. Won't miss playing against him or Jaworski any more

The Meeks & Funk show was entertaining. The Bison continue to stampede!!!
New season, new team, new dream . . .

Funk is the reason we hung on in the 2nd half. Lafayette did a good job controlling Meeks in the 2nd half. Xander was solid all day. Big Timm played some good D when we needed him. Good all around team effort.

Fours things;

1. Deuce in street clothes is the best thing that happened all year. Maybe try a straight jacket next. Was he in street clothes because of Covid or an injury or was he in street clothes because he was told he wasn’t gonna play? That’s a honest straight up question if anybody knows.

2. Nice shooting from 3 from Rice. Very happy for the kid as he puts in the time

3. Different team with Meeks obviously

4. Nice job by Nathan (funny...he’s a bad coach w/o Meeks and a good one with...can’t wrap my head around him having knowledge and then not having knowledge in the span of a week...does he have early A?)

Look I'm not crazy enough to say we'd be undefeated with Meeks playing every game but 8-3 or 9-2 seems extremely reasonable. He'd be going down as an all time great if he just could have been on the floor more. So disappointed we got robbed of a proper senior season. I believe he's due COVID related eligibility elsewhere but unfortunately his game doesn't really translate to the Power 6 as well as Sestina's did.

Can't agree on #1. I want Deuce back next week to shake and bake Burns into retirement as a passing of the torch for the poor shooting, great playmaking PG leader within the PL.

Yes, #1 is silly. I don't believe it's an honest question.

One thing about ND this year - a big thing and a good thing - is that he has stopped using the automatic switch on ball screens, especially in pick and roll situations. For the last 1+ seasons, he and the staff apparently were the only people in America to recognize what a disastrous defensive strategy it was. Opposing coaches like Langel based much of their game plan around it. But suddenly this year, the Bison have gone back to trying to fight through screens and rarely switching when a big man is involved. This has improved the defense a fair amount. Credit to ND for finally figuring it out - even if it is very late.

The start of this thread was that ND said all players were available, practicing and healthy. Then BBfan21 said he was apparently in civvies...what’s silly about the question?

Let me ask again...does anybody know if there was a similar Covid type protocol as per the American series, an in-practice injury that prevented him from suiting up or was there a discipline/team rules related issue?

Also, I don’t remember Jay Wright telling anyone he was missing Quinnerly.

Just so my sentiment is not misconstrued. My original post was incorrect. The only thing better than Deuce in street clothes would have been Duece in uniform and ND electing not to use him (I.e., coaches decision DNP). That’s what I thought had occurred until I read BBF21’s post AFTER the game. If you don’t understand it’s a team game, and you don’t understand culture, then you don’t understand what it takes to win. Not a fan until there’s a major change of worldview. How’s that for silly?
