Muscala signs with OKC for two years 01-17-22 11:04 PM - Post#333637
In response to JPM
Over his past two games, Mike has shot 7-8 on threes. That includes a 4-4 performance at Brooklyn in a blowout win over the Nets the other night. He is now hitting 44.7% on threes (59-132), which placed him 3rd in the NBA as of this afternoon:
https://www.nba.com/stats/players/
Also Mike ranks 1st on the entire OKC team in PER, which evaluates players by all of their stats. Of course he only plays 14 mpg, which makes a difference.

Mike is out with an ankle injury, reportedly out until after the all-star break.

Bleacher Report is touting a possible trade for Mike to Milwaukee. Fansided is hoping he goes to Philadelphia.

This season's 3-point shooting:
Muscala 42.9% (70-163) - 5th in the league
McCollum 38.4% (111-289) - 50th in the league
Who would have predicted this?

OKC declined to pick up Mike's contract and he is now an unrestricted free agent.

OKC just re-signed Mike for the veteran's minimum, which for a player with nine years of NBA service is projected to be $2,641,682. They saved a little bit of money by waiving him initially, but I think the main reason may be related to preserving salary cap room.
The Thunder have a lot of rostered players - including three first round draft picks plus an early second round pick - so there will be a real scramble for playing time.

Mike had missed time with due to a broken finger, but he has been playing really well in recent weeks. Tonight he had 19 points in 21 minutes, hitting 2–3 on twos and 3–5 on threes, plus a game – high +16 in a victory over San Antonio. He also added six rebounds, two assist, one steal, and one block.
For his last four games, he has scored 42 points in 72 minutes, and hit 10–16 on his three-point attempts.

Good for Mike to not be languishing on the bench. As far as the +16, I really don’t know what to make of that stat. I’ve seen guys score 40 with 10 rebounds and low turnovers have a negative.

Good for Mike. OKC has a shot at the playoffs, but he may prefer playing for a proven winner.

I think Mike getting an NBA championship ring is a good thing. I’m also glad a contender recognized him as an asset for a stretch run. That’s no small accomplishment.

Mike is acquitting himself nicely in Boston, adding a piece to their bench rotation. 17 minutes, 10 pts, 5 boards, shot 4-7 (2-5 from 3) in basically an 8-man rotation with two starting guards out.

The Celtics played tonight at Milwaukee while missing all five starters: Jayson Tarum, Jaylon Brown, Derrick White, Marcus Smart, and Al Horford. That put Mike into the starting lineup, where he played a career-high 44 minutes in an OT loss. He ended up with 18 points and 8 rebounds, shooting 4-6 on twos and 3-10 on threes. He won the jump ball from Giannis to start the OT.
I didn't see the game but statistically it looks like he may have worn down by the fourth quarter. He's not used to going more than 24 minutes.
