Much prefer the bracketography 10 seed, hoping we can avoid an 8 or 9 seed like like the plague.

Where does everybody think we'll be seeded if we win out? If we get at-large?

Another 10 seed projection. With a 13.87% shot at the sweet 16. Over the last decade 10 seeds have done MUCH better, with over 30% making the the sweet sixteen. I dare say we are no ordinary 10 seed...

We should be so lucky to get this sportsline 11 seed draw.

Are you sure that 30% of 10 seeds have not made the Sweet 16...That would mean that more than 3 out of 10 2 seeds have not made it to the sweet 16 (More than 3/10 assuming 7 seeds have done some damage). To me, it seems more likely that about 30% of 10 seeds have made the 2nd round.

And, I say we get a 9 seed playing in Philly with Nova or UConn looming if we win out.

I except alot from this team. But I don't think making the sweet 16 is within our grasp at this point. I would actuallly love an 8-9 b/c it gives our greatest opportunity to win at least one game in the tourney.

Remember, we were the FIRST patriot league team to even win a game in the tourney last year. I think repeating that task alone will be extremely difficult.

I am sure that over 30% of ten seed have made it to the sweet sixteen! AT LEAST one 10 seed has made it in the last 9 years.

I would enjoy the 10 but think the 11 seed is most realistic. Even better in my opinion. We are capable of beating a 6 seed and the thoughts of a 2nd round 3 seed is far more appealing than a 1 or a 2.

11 is ideal if you ask me. There is little difference in being a 9, 10, or 11 in the first round because the 6, 7, and 8-seeds are all pretty much the same.

The real difference is potential 2nd round matchup: a sizeable drop-off btwn 1/2-seeds and 3 seeds.

how 10 seeds have faired in the last 10 tournaments...

advanced to second round (20, 50%)
advanced to sweet sixteen (13, 32%)
advanced to elite eight (3, 8%)

...the scary part of it all is that 10 seeds have won 65% of their second round games.
The Bracket Bustin' Bison are Back!

Okay. First round streak BACK ON!

Lunardi's latest Bracketology has us playing Kentucky in Philly with Kentucky looming as the 1 seed. Aside from being near home, that would be a brutal draw. I know KU has had a rough year, but they are heating up, and I would want nothing to do with them in the tourney! No doubt the link in jck's post 2 up would be the ideal 8-9 draw. A winnable first game, an unproven 1 seed, and overrated 2-4 seeds. Wow am I getting ahead of myself!

I agree with 1011. First making the tourney would be great. Then one win would be amazing. The rest would be gravy.

Bucknell wins out: 10 seed

Bucknell loses in PL tournament: Screwed into NIT. Remember: Bucknell's RPI goes down, regardless, during the PL tournament. It plunges with any loss in the PL tourney.

No way. That is too pessimistic. Most people (including the head of the selection committe) have had positive outlooks on BU's at-large shot. I think if we win Fri. and Sun., we are in. Ironically though, if we win the league tourney, I think we play ourselves into 8-9 hell in Philly w\UConn or Nova awaiting should we win. If we get in as an at large after losing the final, I say then it will be a 10-11 seed.

Just once, I want to see a bracketologist have the balls to give a school like HC, Utah State, or Hofstra an upset auto-bid and have to place Bucknell, Nevada, George Mason, and UNC-Wilmington.

With only S. Fla left on the road to close out the regular season and a national ranking of 20 in each poll and a 22 RPI (KPom), Georgetown should get a top four seed in the big east tournament and play a quarterfinals match with a 5 or 6 seed that had to play the day before. That is not a recipie for ending up as a 6 seed. But I would hate them as a first round draw for us.

Not sure why people would be happy playing Georgetown in the first round. They are a tough, athletic team that has proven they can win big games (remember Duke?). I would be wary of most Big East teams in the first round, they are all battle tested and would be a tough out.

Boxman, unfortunately, thats not how bracket predictions work. To the best of my understanding, those brackets are what they would look like if the season ended today. Therefore, even though it may be nice to see HC in the bracket, and therefore determine what BU's at-large possibilities are, they wouldn't. Simply because, at this point, BU, as the number one seed is the patriot league automatic bid. If we lost to Army, I am sure that HC would become the automatic bid.

I remember Lunardi addressing this question in a chat, b/c someone had complained that the team currently in the bracket was not likely to win the automatic bid (they had upset two teams in early jan.). He simply stated that at this point in the season, they were the leaders and therefore were listed as the auto-bid.

So, to answer your question, I don't think its a matter of balls, but the methodology they use. I'm sure you can make a bracket predication yourself and put the lower teams in, but its less likely to be accurate.

Completely agree. G-town is a very tough matchup.

I understand that people are looking ahead to potential second round matchups, and for good reason, you might as well while we still have the chance. But I guess I'm more of a realist and want the first round matchup which gives us the best chance of winning. Another win in the first round would be amazing, regardless of who we have to play in the second round.

If its a 1/2 seed in the second, who cares? The important thing is getting to the second round and not looking to far ahead.

However, it would be nice to see some of these bracketologists list all of the teams in a perceived order as to their viability for an at-large bid. The way it is done now, we have no idea (other than an occasional comment) whether, for example, they think Bucknell would get an at-large bid ahead of UNC-Wilmington or Southern Illinois or Indiana or Colorado etc etc.
