Come on---predictions are meaningless. And if Bagnoli were terminated for performance, he wouldn't have been kept on by Penn. He was kicked upstairs to allow the favored son to become the coach. He inherited some great Ivy players. But the key is I never said Priore couldn't coach--he's a very good coach. He's not a good recruiter.

Zubrow went 9-1 with his own recruits his last year and then went to a Zen monastery or something. But he won on his own and with Berndt's recruits.

But yes, this is my opinion. I can't see anyone looking objectively at the straight line deterioration of the football program over the last 4 seasons and not say it's time for a change.

The same could be said about Bagnoli's last 3 years (he was 5-5 in 2011):

2012: 6-4
2013: 4-6
2014: 2-8

Perhaps, but then you don't go with his top assistant.

Staff assts do the bulk of the work involved in recruiting. The Priore brothers played a critical role as recruiters during the best years of Al’s Penn tenure. Ray experienced a certain level of success after becoming head coach primarily because he inherited a very good qb-Torgersen. And - while Alek was a Bagnoli recruit, Ray Priore was his primary Penn recruiter.

Penn has stumbled a bit with getting plus qb’s the past 10 years. We lost a top Penn commitment one year (Dinucci) who decommitted and went to Pitt, as well as Collins who transferred out after freshman year to TCU.

A plus QB is a significant part of fielding a top Ivy team. We’ve been struggling to get this piece right. Hopefully one of the young QBs can fill that role going forward.

I hear you, but my eyes tell me that during the Bagnoli era and shortly thereafter, we had bigger and faster teams than Dartmouth, Yale and Princeton and were right there with Harvard. We appear to be behind all of those teams now---we cannot even play smashmouth football with Columbia. I think the problem goes far deeper than QB. I mean, losing to Lafayette says it all.

But I'm going up to Yale this Saturday and hope that somehow, Penn can win a game it is not expected to win.

It was beautiful up at Yale. It was great seeing my daughter and tailgating.

The Penn football team is just badly coached. Their lines are as good or better than Yale's, but the secondary is terrible and tackling is worse. Two critical illegal substitution penalties, no adjustment to the QB option and he just ran wild while Penn continually went for the fake, and no pass rush allowed Yale to complete just about every long bomb. It's a combination of recruiting issues and being out-coached on the field. Yale was a team not much better in talent and we got beaten like a rag on defense. This team may go winless in the league, and there is no excuse for that.

I don't think there's much more to be said. While I never would root against a Penn team, this result might, in the long run, be for the best, as it makes it much more difficult to make a case for giving the guy 'one more year.'

Anybody go to the R&B scrimmage?

I paid $25 to watch most of this in person. Beautiful day decent crowd. Ugly football. In fairness, Penn’s top two receivers were missing. Not sure why. Probably the difference in the game. The QB is a true freshman and plays like one. He has tools and will get much better.

Penn loses 34-14 to Princeton in a game that was not that close. 1-6 and tied for last place . Changes must be made.

It was definitely a rough season.

Looks like you're not alone in that thought.

If Penn does elect to make a change, whoever takes over for Priore will be walking into a good situation.

Penn's last few football recruiting classes have been well-regarded. There is talent there.

I’d bet a lot it won’t happen this year.
