Here is a preview from the other side
Basically, it’s their front court with Bean and Horvath (43 & 19 between them) plus a 7 footer off the bench against our backcourt that should matchup quite well. Martz will have his hands full against Bean and may end up in foul trouble, along with MLL. They will need a serious contribution from Wang and inside points may be hard to come by.
9.5 feels like the right line against a team of roughly GMU quality on a neutral court.

I would think Monroe and Martz on Bean, mainly. Maybe some Moshkovitz. I think MLL will be on the big(ger) guys. And yes, everyone will have their hands full, but I actually like all 3 guys as defenders and think the different styles should help keep Bean at least a little off balance. Maybe Moshkovitz can get under his skin a little.

Does Moshkovitz's game remind anyone else of Cedric Laster?

Bean also spent 2 years on an LDS mission so like Mosh he is older than the rest of his teammates. Defending him on the boards and on shot attempts will be key, otherwise this one could get ugly.

Yes, although the Bucknell game (and our Dingle conversation) shows that you can beat a team even when one guy does a lot of damage for them. Brown nearly beat UNC even though UNC’s center didn’t miss a shot until the end of the game. The goal, obviously, is to limit how much Utah State scores as a team. Sometimes that involves the star getting his points, and just limiting everyone else.

Monroe's defense on Bean might be a key here. I actually feel good about MLL and Spinoso slowing Horvath and the 7-footer down. Perimeter defense is our biggest weakness and Monroe is probably the only one who can match up against a 6-7 guy who can go inside and out.

ESPN+ schedule has it for 2 pm; Penn Athletics site lists it for 2:30.
Penn game starts 20 minutes after Davidson/NM St. which tips at noon -- 2:30 is a far more realistic estimate.

How about harassing the hell out of their guards with our superior depth and denying Bean the ball? No doubt they are going to do all they can to get our bigs in foul trouble.
Penndemonium beat me to this on the other thread, but I think they can hang 75 on these guys if they get open 3s off Dingle dishes and better perimeter ball movement. The defensive rebounding also must get better than it was in the first two games. Martz. Monroe, Moshko, and yes, Spinoso need to step up there and get those runouts going.

Defensive rebounding was only a problem in the first game. We only allowed 3 offensive rebounds against Mason.

12 minutes to play and it's 1:20. Unless this game goes to OT, it's likely the Penn game starts before 2:30.

Tie game at the media time out with 7:29 to play.
Both of these teams are fundamentally sound and well coached. Penn will have its hands full with either one.
