They’re doing a good job contesting the passing lanes. I also think you’re seeing USU committing the kinds of mistakes guys make while still learning a new coach’s system and new teammates as well. Multiple passes to nowhere for TOs.

Really loving the defensive intensity and poise so far. With two exceptions, guys doing a great job disrupting passing lanes, crashing boards, and staying down. Awesome stuff

Nice steal by Jelani who feeds to a wide open Charles for 3...but he cannot hit.
Next time down, though, he does connect from distance. MLL has been in the high post to start the last few possessions.

Nice turnaround by Martz puts Penn back up by 1.
But they screw up going under a screen and Horvath 3 is the result.

Generally optimistic about the game flow. Assuming regression towards the mean, we're getting much better looks and not converting them. Utah State a little of the opposite. Bodes well for game outcome.

I like the way they've been able to hang in despite not really finding it from range today. They have found other ways to score and have upped the defensive intensity.

After a Eurasian step by Bean for 2, Dingle comes down aggressively and scores on 2 consecutive possessions in the paint.
28-28 with under a minute to go.

Big mistake by Jones there—beats Charles badly off the dribble, but instead of putting the layup up, kicks outside for the shot clock violation.

Stayed in the game by hitting the 2s at a high percentage—9-13–and going 4-4 from the stripe.
