Dingle misses a 3 and after an OR, misses another wide open 3. Then ODU comes back and hits a 3.
Martz a bad pass, ODU ball with a chance to cut it to 2 possessions.

Penn comes down, eventually goes to Charles in the corner....GOOD!
Ends a 10-0 run for ODU. Fifth 3 for Charles.

ODU hits 2 FTs, Charles misses a 3, then Penn fouls on the rebound. ODU scores again, now it's 67-61 with under 2 to go.
Dingle misses, ODU turns it over. Penn misses a 3, gets the board and takes it from out of bounds.
Dingle gets fouled near half court with 1:11 to go, still up 6.

Watched most of this on the phone while I was out for a long-scheduled holiday haircut. Liked the way they just methodically built the lead to 15 in the second half before ODU’s desperate comeback attempt.
First poor FT shooting effort of the season is the only thing thst kept it single digits..

Nice to get a win against a team that probably would be top 4 in our league. Thought the defense looked good (surprisingly so without MLL), though ODU is a good defensive team and a poor offense team, so probably a little deceptive. I wasn’t sure about our going zone when we did — worked for a couple possessions, but it seemed to get us out of position for rebounds and create more space for their big to operate 1:1.

I am willing to chalk up the FT issues the last couple of games to sheer fatigue. They really have played an awful lot of basketball in a short amount of time (plus an additional 2 OTs).

Oklahoma up 4 in the second half--Porter Moser has a very, very good team.
Penn should feel very good about that effort against Utah State.

Yes, and we’ve started to get cutters to the basket. Dingle is good at it — which is another reason we may want him playing off the ball more. Monroe too. Slajchert seems to have good instincts for it, but he needs to be more open for it to work.
The little two man game off the ball that used to work so well for Betley never seems to get Martz or Charles open in the same way, perhaps because they don’t cut to the basket as effectively as pre-injury Betley, so the defense doesn’t buy that Martz or Charles could be cutting to the basket. Hopefully that changes at some point as the scouting report on Charles is so 3 heavy that you would think the cut to the basket would have to be there if they set it up right.

USU up by 2 with 19 seconds left. Horvath left the game around a minute to play and could not put any weight on his leg. This game has been a real battle.
