Rough matchup tonight as Colgate rotation includes 3 or 4 guys 6'9" or 6'10".
Coming off a 13-2 2020 season, Colgate is 3-2 and is ranked #107 KP.
Close loss to NC State (by 3) and CORNELL (by 10) are curiously offset by a victory over Northeastern and a 15 point victory over Syracuse.
I'm rather pessimistic about this one. Bad matchup for this iteration of our healthy lineup.

I am more concerned about limiting Colgate's barrage of three-point attempts and containing their three senior guards. Colgate is experienced, deep, and runs an efficient offense that generates plenty of open looks.

Does anyone have inside particulars on all these injuries; it seems unprecedented to start the year in this fashion.

Making it very easy for Colgate to defend a very predictable perimeter offense. Even when the passing is crisp, Colgate’s defense is one step ahead.
Until the bigs get involved, this is a really flawed team.

What a bonehead play by Colgate to allow Harvard to put up a buzzer beater 3 to tie it.
To OT.

Instead of just coming down with the rebound (no-one was near him), the Colgate player bats out the long rebound off the missed Harvard 3 deep to Sakota, who sinks it.

Going to be hard to top this as the shot of the year: https://twitter.com/HarvardMBB/status/146 368813767...
We finally started hitting from the outside. Great grit to get back in this game, and bounce back from the ugly Siena loss.

Similar thing may be going on right now at Florida State.
Boston U. did a great job of hanging in there all game long, and hit a desperation 3 at the buzzer, also to tie.
Like Harvard, they have gone ahead in OT and may never trail again.
This would be a major upset.

Big minutes from Friedman. Tretout and Wojcik disappeared. Catchings was also pretty much done after he picked up his fourth
Nice step forward by Lesmond tonight. Made a number of big plays/shots. Expect he’ll be real important to this team.
Forbes and Hemmings seemed to be moving better than Ajogbor and Pitcher, but who knows.
Team plays hard. They have to given the difficulty caused by the injuries to the big men. They are forced to choose between ceding open threes by helping when the other team dumps the ball inside or getting punished by the other team’s inside game.
Good to see Kirkwood and Ledlum make some big plays in key spots.
Another big one vs. Northeastern Saturday.

Finally get the lead back on a putback with 2.1 seconds left.

Crazy game. I watched Harvard look hapless for the first 10 minutes and joined family at a nice outdoor dinner under a tent (in Florida). Saw Harvard was starting to hit 3’s and so watched the last 8 minutes + OT on my phone.
This team is really gritty. Hopefully, with a couple of non-guards/small forwards, we’ll be dangerous.
By the way, Colgate Center batting the rebound on Ledlum’s miss out to 3point range and Sakota was a gift. Reminds me of Justin Sears vs Dartmouth. Don’t touch the ball and the game would have been over.

The announcers were correct in pointing out that a key to Harvard’s comeback was their ability to defend without fouling after they picked up a lot of early second half fouls. That number felt like it stayed on 6 for a long time.

Great fight to get back in the game last night. Lots of fun to see the Sakota shot and the way the team played down the stretch.
We aren't a very good defensive team right now. Much of this is due to having to collapse down low and failing to help and recover on the outside. Lots of open or uncontested threes. I hope that will get better over the course of the season.
I've said this before, but we're asking a ton of Noah and Ledlum right now. The rest of the rotation seems to be going with who has the hot hand at the moment. Lesmond has to get better on D...as he does, I think he'll get more playing time.
These seasons are always a journey--last night's game was a journey in and of itself! Let's enjoy the ride.
Will be at the game on Saturday. First home game since maybe 2014 for me.
